The crowd's displeasure was misplaced. They should have been booing the ref, he stopped it. All Froch did was get up and go on to take more big shots before getting himself back in to the fight and putting George in trouble. He didnt stop it.
Froch's interview was cringeworthy and only made the booing worse but hey ho, his interview meant eff all in regards of what actually happened in the fight. He was losing the fight, but only 8 and a bit rounds had passed. It was a 12 round fight. The only conclusion one could come to is that Groves is a better man than Carl over 8 rounds :TU:

The conclusion I came to was that Groves would have been the better man over 12 had it not been for the twitchy arsed Mr Foster.
Perhaps. We will never know. I had George in front, like any sane person should have. No denying he was in a stick of bother though at the time of the stoppage and entering deep waters.

I imagine you would have got fantastic odds on Froch beating Taylor going in to the 12th round of their fight.

The only fact we know is George bested Carl over 8 rounds. Doesn't mean shite when talking about a 12 round fight though.

I don't really have a dog in this fight as I like both fighters. I just hope that Froch makes the right call regarding his career next. He looked old. As for George? I hope he does well but still not sold. I find it a touch alarming he allowed himself to lose that from the position he was in. I think he might be a little frail. Hope not though

You're right, we'll never know and I don't think Groves will get a rematch; I do think that Groves is young enough to improve and he didn't take a beating; I think DeGale is dangerous for both of them and I think Froch showed every sign of deterioration; I don't think he'd have been bashed around so much 3 or 4 years ago. Froch has been a stand out champion for Britain and has an excellent resume, he'll not see 2014 out as champ though I don't think, unless he boxes once v Chavez Jnr.

I know its a tough decision to make for fighters and I can see Froch struggling with it especially but I don't think it would be a bad idea for him to turn it in and to out as a title holder.

I doubt he will though.

George shouldn't put all his eggs in one basket. Strike whilst the iron is hot. Ward has spoken about him, he should be all over that. Not that I think he would beat Ward but fighting the main man for everything isn't the kind of chance that comes around often.

I know he's not exactly a world level fighter but I'd be happy with him facing Froch again.

I think that Groves' performance vs Froch definitely qualifies him to join the world class level at 168.

I am happy to see that Current Scene is not the only place where people insist on accusing professional pugilists of being cowards. It takes all kinds.

I love how groves is now viewed as some sort of superman, like he didn't unravel as soon as the 1st decent bit of momentum from froch started. He was being derailed. But boxing fans, being the panto crowd, need their villians and conspiracies.

Boxrec has even crowned Groves 'fighter of the year' with a sort of mock-protest vote. Talk about British mentality!

Hang on lads. Groves proved he was better than froch "beyond all reasonable doubt"!!!

I don't mind reasoned debate but when people come out with total shite like that, not to mention calling any professional boxer (let alone someone whose picture is under warrior in the dictionary) as having no balls then this forum is in a race to the bottom.

I didn't say he has no balls, but if he swerves Groves, like he looks set to, then there has to be question marks. You have to assess someone's career in the round, and it will show that he took part in the super six, made a big thing of how he will fight anyone, yet when someone beat him up, he had no interest in that particular rematch. That is quite telling, I think.

People can muddy the waters all they want and talk about Groves not rematching Degale etc, but that is a seperate issue, and most people felt that they met early in their career and will meet again later in a bigger fight.

Groves vs Froch is perfect for a rematch. Whether you chose to ignore it or not, Groves looked like he had Froch's number (too fast for him), there was a controversial ending, a lot of pre and post fight hype, and a rematch would be big big business. The question is, why wouldn't Froch want to fight him again?

As an aside, I don't think Froch was on the slide, he was on a career best run going into that fight, it's just that fighters with fast hands and feet are too much for him. Dirrell beat him ( I don't care about those dodgy scorecards), Ward beat him 11 rounds to 1 and Groves did a proper job on him.

If he fights Ward then fair enough, but if he takes on Chavez Jnr or Bika, then it doesn't look great for him, and I can't really see how you can think otherwise.

That being said, I can't blame him if he doesn't box Ward or Groves again, as could well get stopped for the first time in his life in either of thsoe fights.

Froch said ringisde he'd do it again, and it's the fight the fans want. Very few have interest in seeing Carl fight Ward, Chavez jr or Bika, so it's the obvious fight to make. Why is there even any arguing about this? Do people really want to see Froch fight Ward again and lose as convincingly as he lost last time, or even more convincingly?

The title of the thread is clearly very harsh, however if he doesn't give Groves a rematch it will affect his "legacy" as they say these days - also, he will get fed up of this being brought up forever by journalists and internet forums etc.

Froch has plenty of other fights in his career which will eclipse the lack of a rematch with Groves.

Nobody really talks about Calzaghe's failure to rematch Reid any more.

Yes, I believe it's a shame that the rematch didn't happen, but I can't hold it against Carl after the career he's had.

Chavez would make a lot of money and sense for him. He could pick up the WBC by beating Bika, which could draw Ward in again. Groves II would be nice, but to suggest it's the only option open to him is wrong. Groves could do with another fight first to work on the mistakes that led to the outcome.
It was Howard Foster who led to the outcome.

It is quite revealing that someone who has made a career out of fighting everyone, won't now go back in with someone, who lets face it, battered him.

It was a disastrous fight for him, because it put to bed Calzaghe-Froch argument, and when you look at his career at the end, you will note that he really did struggle with movers, and not quite as good as he beleives himself to be.

Ward doesn't need to give Froch a rematch because he beat him so comprehensively that there is not much intrigue there, but Froch has( in a very half hearted way called him out), and Ward is happy to rematch him. Why wouldn't Froch want to rematch Groves in a huge money spinner?

He told everyone in the arena and the viewing audience on tv that he would, so I think even the lay person will be asking these questions.

respect is a two sided sword ,you don't get it if you don't give it and froch sure as hell doesn't give anyone else any respect .
