Hatton on Talksport
Hatton on Talksport
Talksport really are the Sun of the airwaves. Heard an interview with Ricky whilst driving home (I was bored of 5 live talking about the Tory leadership contest), Rodney Marsh talking to him.
Interview started off ok talking about Ricky's weight and asking him how much he weighs between fights (12 and a half stone was the answer) before the first stupid comment from Marsh.
"Ricky, no world champion has ever retired undefeated, is it an ambition of yours?". Ever heard of Rocky Marciano Rodney? Terry Marsh?
Then the real belter was Marsh complementing Hatton on knocking out everyone he has ever faced. I thought I'd misheard that until he repeated after Hatton had finished. "39 fights, 39 wins, 39 knockouts, the perfect record, I find that truly amazing".
Just annoys me on national radio. I mean Marsh was probably given this by some researcher but it's unforgivable 'journalism'.

TALKSPORT should be renamed TALKFOOTBALL, nobody on their has a clue about Boxing.
The only one who has half a clue is Alan Brazil, but apart from that they are fat old hacks or washed up nearly was piss head ex footballers.
BTW, where are you watching the Hatton fight?
Alan Brazil and Mike Parry arent Londonerssteve689 wrote:Talk Sport is just crap, they don't let anyone on without a cockney accent. "Yeah i'm from Landaaaan mate, wanna tawk abaat Spurs awwwight"It's so flipping predictable.
Whats wrong with Londoners anyway Steve, we always get on with brummies and west midlanders.
No worries mate. Talksport is mainly callers from Surrey who support united or chelsea.steve689 wrote:I know mate, i've got nothing personal was just messingI just noticed when i listen to the Football phone in it always seems to be the same voices ringing in.
I hate football I think its shit.
And i used to play saturdays and sundays but pro football is dog shit
Sometimes talksport is absolutely bollocks, the one night the entire topic of the night and phone-in was whether or not Sven should have his squad practice penalties before the World Cup 2006. What a joke. I agree about the same voices popping up every time you listen to it, and yes they are normally squeaky cockneys ringing up the show droning on about boring boring Arsenal or Spurs.
I just find Talksport really dumbed down. They talk like their listeners are cretins, labouring each point, explaining the most obvious things, the actual content is very poor. As I said ‘The Sun’ of the airwaves.
KO – I’m not even sure I’m going to watch the fight mate. Definitely not live anyway. I would normally tape it and bung it on after a night out but I’m seriously having second thoughts about shelling out £15 for this.
It’s not really the money, I’m lucky enough to be able to afford it without breaking the bank, but on principles I think this is the sort of fight I should be getting as part of my £40+ per month package that I pay to Sky/NTL. It’s why I started paying for it in the first place, live football and the boxing and you used to get Saturday night Ricky Hatton fights live.
Now I understand those fights weren’t IBF/WBA title fights and that they have to be paid for, we aren’t talking Jason Rowlands for the WBU title anymore, but £15 does seem like a lot for this, especially considering the level of the opponent. Tszyu was just about tolerable in terms of coughing up the cash but that will be £30 extra that Sky have milked out of me in 2005.
And the undercard is shite, if we had a couple of competitive scraps on that I wouldn’t be complaining, but I’m potentially paying £15 for a few rounds of action. Not good value in my opinion.

The only time I ever listened to Talksport was when Danny Baker and Danny Kelly used to do a morning show on a Saturday and I would listen to it driving up to Rotherham ( or wherever the Millers were playing )for the match. ( this is, of course, before I got a life
)
Very funny. Particularly their vilification for Darren " SickNote" Anderton" being the highest paid and preternaturally dumbest footballer in history.
I will also never look at John "chipolata" Wark in the same light again

Gordon Strachan quotes -
On Wayne Rooney...
"It's an incredible rise to stardom. At 17 you're more likely to get a call from Michael Jackson than Sven Goran Eriksson."
Reporter: "Gordon, can we have a quick word please?"
Strachan: "Velocity" [walks off]
Reporter: So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today?
Strachan: What areas? Mainly that big green one out there.
Reporter: "Gordon, what will you take from today?"
Strachan: I've got more important things to think about. I've got Yoghurt to finish, the expiry date is today.
Reporter: There goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it?
Strachan: No, I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home, become an alcoholic and maybe jump off a bridge.
Reporter: There's no negative vibes or negative feelings here?
Strachan: Apart from yourself, we're all quite positive round here. I'm going to whack you over the head with a big stick, down negative man, down.
Reporter: Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around?
Strachan: No, I think they should have got George Graham because I'm useless.
Reporter: where will Marion Pahars fit into the team line-up?
Strachan: Not telling you! It's a secret.
Reporter: "What is your impression of Jermaine Pennant?"
Strachan: "I don't do impressions"
Reporter: So Gordon, any changes then?
Strachan: Nahh, still 5ft 6, ginger and a big nose!
Gary Lineker: So Gordon, if you were English, what formation would you play?
Gordon Strachan: If I was English I'd top myself!

What was Hatton's reply to these questions? Did he correct him since he should know the answer?Goz wrote:Talksport really are the Sun of the airwaves. Heard an interview with Ricky whilst driving home (I was bored of 5 live talking about the Tory leadership contest), Rodney Marsh talking to him.

Talksport seems to appeal to that type, well you'd say so from listening to the braindead people that call in. Maybe they filter out the good callers for comedy value?
I listen to Talksport to keep me awake. I get so pissed off with their idiocy I find myself shouting at them or shaking my head in disbelief.
Alan Brazil's alright. The rest of them are utter idiots. Mick Parry giving his considered medical opinion on George Best this morning was like listening to Andy Fordham giving expert diet tips

Hatton kind of ignored the question the first time and the second time he had gone off the air and it was just Marsh talking solo out of arse on national radio.shot wrote:What was Hatton's reply to these questions? Did he correct him since he should know the answer?

Pehaps they could invite on Paul 'Lily Savage' O Grady to provide his expert analysis again, after his incredibly insightful comments before the Amir Khan fight....Manos de Oro wrote:Agreed. Talk"sport" is shite. I used to listen to it every morning, and ALL it ever is, is mongs yapping bollocks about football. The boxing coverage sounds horrid. Why the fornicate they bother getting some celeb who obviously knows pudendum all about the sport to opine and offer their .01 pennorth on the subject is beyond me, it's just embarrasing. They don't get Dale Winton in to offer his opinion on the wimbledon finals do they?
Boxing coverage is desperately poor on the whole, amateurish, and cringeworthy, it's so poorly run because of the lack of a single entity which helps define the sport. It's presented like fornicating WWF at times, which is fine for WWF, because it isn't a sport.

Yeah, good points, I agree. People can go on about how ignorant the casual fan is, but what's to be expected when a fornicating tranny is doing the analysis!jamesmcdonnell wrote:Pehaps they could invite on Paul 'Lily Savage' O Grady to provide his expert analysis again, after his incredibly insightful comments before the Amir Khan fight....Manos de Oro wrote:Agreed. Wouldn't have a problem with a tranny doing the analysis if they knew anything about boxing. The worst thing for me was seeing O'Grady Jump up when he saw Khan landing on Gethin as if he was seeing Hagler lay into Hearns.Manos de Oro wrote:Yeah, good points, I agree. I'm glad to see boxing back on terrestrial, but have to say watched the DVD of Cartillio Corrales a few days later and it made ITV's coverage of The Big Fight Live" look like playschool.
