Whitaker Vs Hearns Prime at Welterweight

Post by BoxBuzz »

Who wins this and why? I did a search and could not find this theoretical posted. If it has been and I've just missed it, give me the hyperlink I'd like to read the thread.

Hearns' reach nullifies (to so0me extent) Whittakers speend and great footwork. Hearns KOs him in the 5th.

Nobody outboxes prime Hearns. If you aint knocking him out you aint beating him. Whitaker would get dropped once or twice but was too slick to get ko'd . Hearns pretty lopsided UD12.

I thought he stopped him once after taking a bit of a beating. the second fight you might argue... At welterweight though Hearns' physical attributes were such an advantage.

Agreed, extremely difficult for a blown up Lightweight to outbox the masterful Hearns. Tommy totally outboxed Leonard for 13rds, and Ray was the complete package, Pernell way too small to trouble Tommy in any area of he fight

The bigger, vastly harder puncher Hearns at Welterweight is way too much for the Lightweight defencive wizard Sweet Pea.

Once Sweet Pea tasts the hard, snappy jab of The Hitman he will know unless he keeps moving he is in for a World of pain. Whitaker will have his brief moments and at times will fustrate Hearns but after 12/15 rounds a bloodied and bruised Whitaker will know he has met a man too big and good for him and states he may drop back down to Light-Welterweight.

Hearns wins on points/

I don't know if I can compare Whitikers great defensive skills to the great defence wizard W. Benitez was. And Benitez made Hearns miss a lot and while standing in front of Hearns.

I would not count out Whitiker but Im also not sure how this fight would turn out, but im leaning towards Hearns cause of his greater height advantage over Whitiker but then again that can be a disadvantage against Whitiker.
