bwad21 I totally agree with you. The Silver gloves do make their own rules and they don't respect the girls at the State and regional levels. Good move in taking your female to Reno, the competition will be the best of the best there. Bonnie Canino does do a great job at the Silver Gloves which is held with the Female Golden Gloves. you should also think about taking your girl to the Beautiful Brawlers event in Redwood City California.

We are excited. I am bringing Sarah Abernathy she is 16 yo will be in 154 class so be looking for us all the way from Alabama! I do wish the Olympic decision makers would consider putting in more weight classes for the females... They have proven they belong in the sport

Early days but they are considering extending the Ladies boxing at the next Olympics to six weights.
If that happens tournaments around the World will follow suit

ABC Boxing don't pay no mind to "Scallum" and his foolishness.................his only intentions on this forum is to talk about his son (Suray Muhmutivic).....................he uses any opportunity to throw his kid's name in the game............he is undermining the Silver Gloves solely because his son is not partaking in the tournament this year - you can believe that if his son was participating in the Silver Gloves this year he would be glorifying the tournament instead of the world tournament.

By the way Scallum, no one cares what weight class your son is fighting at for the worlds or any other tournament.

Though this year i dont have anybody entered in this years tournament, good luck to all the boxers participating in this years Junior/World Open,I hope everybody stays safe and may the best boxers win. This years tournament will definitely be bigger and better than last year with a lot of good match ups. This year I will be at the Region 8 Regionals in Passdena,Ca with my little 9yr old but I will be keeping tabs, making calls to see who wins.

Can't believe the Female Youth @ 112 division is gonna have 4 different National Champions (2013) all competing against each other one spot on Team Usa

Light Flyweight
Golden Gloves champion Nico Hernandez will be favoured to take this title.Runner up last year he can add to his long list of titles.Dangers abound though especially Texans Pablo Ramirez and Luis Delgado.Jordan White is perhaps the best of the boxers moving up from the Juniors.11 of my top twelve boxers are competing here so there is quality everywhere.Damien Charles if he enters would be a serious threat
Flyweight
Shakur Stevenson comes here as World Junior Champ and was most impressive there.I hope Antonio Vargas registers as he was impressive in foreign tournaments in 2013 and could trouble Stevenson/
Tyrone Arzeno was the open age golden gloves runner up earlier in the year and Chris Colbert was the 2012 Junior Olympic champion and therefore is very capable.Bruce Carrington is another to look out for
Bantamweight
Carlos Balderas and Francisco Martinez stand out for me but there is real quality at this weight Isidro Ochoa,Antonio Williams,Efren Lopez and Hector Tajanara have all won lots of tournaments and could win here.Ruben Villa has not registered but is very talented.
Lightweight
Michael Nelson gets a narrow vote here but I will be expecting a good challenge from Kelvin Davis and Xavier Martinez
Lightwelter
Christian Bermudez won the junior Olympics in 2012 with Keona Adric emulating him a year later and they have to be the frontrunners.
Brandon Trejo and Jonathan Navarro are perhaps the best of the rest.
Welterweight
This is tricky as it is hard to choose a winner.I give a slight edge to Alexis Rocha over Fabian Alvarado but if he registers, Marco Magdaleno would be a serious challenger as would Mark Reyes
Middleweight
I like Jazavian Palmer here but Charles Conwell,Ricky Fausto and Nate Kinsman are dangerous
Lightheavy
Furgan Raschke looks the best of those registered but I think Elvis Figueroa or Sharif Rahman would be favoured if they decide to compete
Heavy
Pano Tiatio if he enters and Teifer Rigaud look the best at this weight
Super heavy
John Luna moves up to face the really big boys but I think he can do it
although the likes of Elijah Grady will have different ideas
SELECTIONS
48 NICO HERNANDEZ alt P Ramires
52 SHAKUR STEVENSON alt A Vargas if absent T Arzeno
56 CARLOS BALDERAS alt F Martinez
60 MICHAEL NELSON alt K Davis
64 CHRISTIAN BERMUDEZ alt K Adric
69 ALEXIS ROCHA alt F Alvarado
75 JAZAVIAN PALMER alt C Conwell
81 ELVIS FIGUEROA if absent Furgan Raschke alt Sharif Rahman
91 PANO TIATIO alt T Rigaud
+91 JOHN LUNA alt E Grady
Thomas Blumfield could be a sleeper pick from my region. He beat Bruce Carrington at Silver Gloves last year, beat Canadian National Champion at my event over the summer, and beat 2013 Golden Gloves runner up Tyrone Arzeno last month while giving up 8lbs.

Here are my predictions for youth: :TU:

108 I'm taking Nico Hernandez over Gilbert Renteria
114 Shakur Stevenson, but don't sleep on Darren Cunningham if they were to meet up again
123 Ruben Villa
132 Kelvin Davis slim over Michael Nelson, sleeper Xavier Martinez
141 Brandon Trejo
152 Loaded bracket.... I'll take Alexis Rocha. Javier Estrada, Edgar Berlanga, Hans Perez, Fabian Alvarado, and Marcus Davidson will shake things up and make it interesting.
165 Jazavian Palmer, sleeper Ricky Frausto. I would not be surprised if someone else comes out on top. Very wide open
178 Interesting weight. If Elvis Figueroa is competing he wins. If not, Sergio Flores. Sharif Rahman defeated Furqan Rashke so he could be a sleeper
201 I don't know these boxers. Toss up
201+ Jonny Luna over Darmani Rock

Scallum why would u call this an upset? First upset of tourney as Luis Delgado of San Antonio ,Texas pulls off victory over. Bruce Carrington out of N.Y.. These are kids anything can happen especially with the way USA gives these kids victories when they don't deserve them then they go back to their gyms and act like they are the best so they don't train as hard for next time.

Cmon Abc to be a negative Nancy. These kids are working hard. No victories were given today , everything was earned. Its a upset because Carrington was the more accomplished fighter. Delgado earned his victory today. Very fair judging at this tournament

The best looking kid here I saw so far has been Dominic Serna @119, out of Indio, Ca . The kid has very fast hands , very good body punching and he switches to southpaw at will. Isdrio Ortiz also looked very ,very dominant and he to is switch hitter

How can abc boxing talk so much trash about a kid. I hope you do not train kids because if you do you should be ashamed. Props to you scallum for not stooping to his level. ABC boxing not every USA boxer is going to win at worlds but to make it there is an accomplishment in itself.
