Haye helps out with disabled school in Dubai

Former World Heavyweight Champion David Haye, recently announced his plan to launch the state-of-the-art fitness centre, Hayemaker Gym Dubai, located in the prestigious Downtown Dubai location. The gym will offer a holistic approach to training based on three main principles: fitness, education, and health. Following the recent plans, the champion visited the Rashid Centre for Disabled children on Wednesday 8th of January.

Haye was welcomed by the Centre’s children with a bouquet of flowers and then was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Juma’a Al Maktoum, Chairman of Rashid Centre, alongside Mrs, Mariam Othman, Director General of the Centre, with a tour in which he was introduced to the centre’s classes, services and therapeutic programs offered to children with special needs. Haye also joined the children’s sports activities, where the fitness challenge was set high for Haye. Afterwards, the children of the centre performed an artistic show for the guests and expressed their appreciation for the champion’s visit.

Haye seemed to be very touched by his visit and said, “Despite not having a privileged upbringing, my father inspired me to follow my dreams and enrolled me in a boxing academy, in order to keep me away from the streets. Since then, I started pursuing the dream of becoming a heavyweight champion, and with all my hard work and effort, I finally was able to accomplish my dream.”

He added, “This journey of my life made me realize that dreams begin at a young age, and every child should have the opportunity to pursue theirir own dreams. My main goal of launching a fitness centre here in Dubai is to spread prevention of health disease and to implant a healthy lifestyle and a right way of eating and exercising.”

On his side, Sheikh Juma’a commented on Haye’s visit by saying, “as the Chairman of Rashid Centre and behalf of the management and the children, I would like to thank David for his visit, as such events create an environment of heroism among those children. Because of their disabilities, these children always need to be motivated and encouraged to appreciate their capabilities and David’s visit and the story of his life would surely aid the children of the centre in fighting harder to overcome their hardships.” As for the fitness centre, Sheikh Juma’a added, “the United Arab Emirates ranks on top of the list of the percentage of population with diabetes, which is greatly caused by obesity. Hayemaker Gym Dubai will be a suitable opportunity for people living in the UAE to start taking care of their health by following the footsteps of an international champion.”

It is noteworthy to mention that the “Hayemaker” is currently undergoing a rehabilitation period as a result of a severe shoulder injury, but with his incredible persistence, Haye hopes to fully repair his shoulder whilst also focusing on and devoting his attention to the launch of Hayemaker Gym Dubai and raising awareness on the importance of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

Launching a gym in Dubai ? I'd say that would be a decent move to be honest. It might pave the way for opportunities out there too. Dubai has often mentioned putting on Pacquiao or Khan, but nothing has happened so far.

:DD Only you, Gomez.

Seriously, though, are there really people out there who won't look at those pictures and that press release and not think Haye is a cynical prick?

Without a doubt people would think that. But Haye's fan base transcends forums and now expands into the living rooms and knickers of 40-something housewives up and down the country.

We all agree that the vitriol spans from the talk before his trip to Hamburg, and the subsequent toegate - and many would say that it is fully deserved. His talk was worsened by the stark contrast of the absolute gentleman that was Wladimir.

that aside, I make no apology for saying that I think he is great for British boxing. That is, when is he actually boxing. I've said the same of Fury too whom I equally think is entertaining in a wholly different way.

But I wouldn't ever say Haye feigned injury to omit the Fury fight. That was a fight he was a heavy favourite in and would have picked up millions for. If Haye calls it a day, the sport will lose a character , and at his best a very good fighter.

Helping raise the profile of disabled kids in Dubai can only be a good thing.

I'm a fan of Haye as a fighter too, always have been, less so as a heavyweight but I've nothing against him.

I'm all for him making as much of a living as possible out of the ring aswell. I just think that montage and article are tacky and make him look a dick.

Fury clearly ran from Price and wished he hadn't when he got chinned by Thompson. Too late.

I'm not a nuthugger mate, I'm just a logical human being. Disabled kids are even more ostracized from society in Dubai, than they are here. Haye is doing something good by drawing attention to those kids in the photo. I'm not saying that because it's David Haye in the picture, it could be any boxer, it's still a positive thing to do.

Autistic about it?

Fury never signed to fight Price and wasted his time. Haye is a selfish git.

I like both of them Horse. I bought a ticket for the fight and would have been cheering Fury.

There isn't a person on the planet that I worship. I don't slag Fury off at all. I just slag of the crazy fvckers who think Haye would sign to fight Fury, then cut himself to avoid fighting him, only to sign for the fight all over again and then have surgery to avoid him for a second time.

People look to far into things, he is doing charity work and if it raises his profile then so be it but I'm sure they kids will remember doing the pads with a former heavyweight champion.

The only criticism I have is that I'm a firm believer in the old saying 'Charity begins at home' so id rather see him open up his own gym to the public or work within the area he was brought up or schools he attended. Maybe he already does, i don't know but charity anywhere is better than charity nowhere i suppose.
