Braehmer has a great record of pulling out of these kinda fights.

To be honest it will be a perfect opportunity for Juergen to pick up a highlight reel knockout that he's been missing of late.

Only one winner he I afraid. Enzo not even ranked currently.chad wrote:Heard this one is almost a done deal. Anyone else heard rumblings on this one?

Not that it makes a difference, but Enzo is Commonwealth Light Heavyweight champion and ranked 12 in the world by Boxrec compared to Braehmer's 9. On paper there's absolutely nothing wrong with this.leforge wrote:Only one winner he I afraid. Enzo not even ranked currently.chad wrote:Heard this one is almost a done deal. Braehmer is there for the taking by anyone even half decent.
His level of opposition hasn't exactly always been world class no reason why Enzo shouldn't take this fight.

For sure Braehmer will be beaten by a fresh, talented fighter. But that's not Enzo. I think the Welshman maybe lasts 6 rounds.ShadrachSimmo wrote:Braehmer is there for the taking by anyone even half decent.

I hope this fight doesn't happen for Enzo's sake. I've seen him brutally KOed too many times for comfort.
Slightly off topic but does anyone know what happened to Alexander Frenkel? He hasn't fought since beating Enzo over 3 years ago.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Juergen Braehmer 5th April 2014 ???
Following his win against Enzo he suggested he'd injured his hand. Shortly after he said he felt burnt out and needed a break from boxing. There was a suggestion from his own camp he simply lost his appetite for the game but more recently it's surfaced that he wasn't coping with the pressure and he had been wrestling with a few mental demons. Even if he comes back it won't be with Sauerland. I believe they have washed their hands of him completely.Deno1986 wrote:I hope this fight doesn't happen for Enzo's sake. Someone in the CS *a pro I think* said he'd seen Frenkel when he was out sparring in Germany and that he's suffering with depression apparantly. He's also lost quite a lot of weight, more like a light heavy now in size. He didnt look well according to this guy. It's a real shame.

I'd fancy Enzo to knock Braehmer out right now, he's on a good run and I don't think Braehmer's anything special either.

Imagine if he won, what topsy turvey career. I can't think of another Brit that's had as many ups and downs. Derry Matthews maybe, but not at the level Enzo's fought at.

Good matchup.
Maccarinelli is as worthy as anyone for a shot at Braehmer's WBA belt. Although I'm leaning toward Brahmer by KO/TKO, Enzo has power and decent skills so he always has a chance of winning. It's a risk worth taking, probably his last chance at a world title.

Good match up, Enzo has every chance of connecting and saying good night to Braehmer, looking forward to this one.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Juergen Braehmer 5th April 2014 ???
Surely Braehmer must be under house arrest, in custody or sectioned again?
German police officers.....definitely not what they used to be

Would be the first 'official' Welsh two weight world champion too and has anyone gone from Cruiser to Light Heavy and win the world title.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Juergen Braehmer 5th April 2014 ???
If a tough fight with Ovill and win over Fry = good run, Braehmer is having a great run. Then again, given how Enzo's done over the past 5 years or so it's fitting to say that a pair of stoppage wins over domestic level fighters is a good run by his standards.expe wrote:I'd fancy Enzo to knock Braehmer out right now, he's on a good run and I don't think Braehmer's anything special either.
Enzo is getting overrated imo, and I think he'll be stopped if this happens; it's what usually happens when he's not facing journeymen or British/Commonwealth level guys.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Juergen Braehmer 5th April 2014 ???
He's looked a different fighter, took some good shots in both fights and came through them, defence was a lot better and he's always been a banger. Ovill wasn't a tough fight, especially by his standards, he was comfortably in front before taking him out with one shot that left him out cold on his feet.crusader wrote:If a tough fight with Ovill and win over Fry = good run, Braehmer is having a great run. Re: Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Juergen Braehmer 5th April 2014 ???
I would absolutely love if Enzo could go in there and prove everyone wrong. His chin has looked better recently, maybe it's levels and all that, he could well be exposed again at world level but what a career he's had.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Juergen Braehmer 5th April 2014 ???
He hasn't looked different to me other than showing more durability than he did against McPhilban, and it amazes me how much credit people are giving him for beating two fairly unspectacular domestic level opponents (imo far more than is being given to Braehmer for defeating better opponents just as easily). I think much of his supposed improvement comes from him not facing world or European level fighters, and Braehmer is at worst a strong European level fighter.expe wrote:He's looked a different fighter, took some good shots in both fights and came through them, defence was a lot better and he's always been a banger. I thought there were plenty of moments in the Ovill fight when Enzo looked weary and it seemed like the tides may be turning in Ovill's favor, and while I give Enzo credit for pulling through and ending it in fashion, he certainly had to show a fair bit of grit to do so; in fact, I thought that was probably the most impressive aspect of his performance. I simply don't get, given his performances over the past 5 years and how he typically fares when stepping beyond domestic level, how wins over Ovill and Fry suddenly make Enzo someone who should be picked over an opponent who has consistently won at a higher level and shown enough power to crack his chin.

It will be interesting to see if Dean Francis can make a bit of a run of it again. I think he would stop Enzo and Ovil (again).
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli Vs. Juergen Braehmer 5th April 2014 ???
Unfortunatley Shumenov is the Genuine WBA champion even though he had 18 months without fighting. Braehmer has the Scott Quigg type belt.WelshJack wrote:Would be the first 'official' Welsh two weight world champion too and has anyone gone from Cruiser to Light Heavy and win the world title.

I think, no matter how long Dean is retired, or how many times he gets chinned, people will still bring him up in these conversations. The most overrated fighter for years in my opinion.polecateddy wrote:It will be interesting to see if Dean Francis can make a bit of a run of it again. I think he would stop Enzo and Ovil (again).

Love to see Enzo get this shot and win it. He should hang up his gloves if he wins it cause it really is only a matter of time again until he gets hurt.
