Good stuff Mike Perez is on this too v Carlos Takam whos 29-1. His record looks padded though. the loss against Gregory Tony who Towers beat a bit ago.

Should be a good fight this, Pascal's not the most devastating of punchers so we should see a decent bit of action.

Great news for us that Sky Sports are continuing where they left off towards the back end of last year, in showing some good international cards and we get to see them in HD :TU:

No word on a UK broadcast of the Mikey Garcia fight on 25th Jan?

I see that BN are showing the Huck/Arslan and Lamont Peterson cards that night already. Would be a shame if the Garcia fight was ignored. It has a decent, if unspectacular undercard too.

Even money they will have Carl Froch doing the punditry with Froch have beaten Jean Pascal in his first world title fight, and then smashing up Lucian Bute.

I will be watching the Canadian broadcast then, the idea of them filling time with Froch talking really doesn't entertain me.

The winner may be an option for Froch. Would sell in Canada.

Froch vs Pascal was a Great fight years ago , both really going for it punches bouncing off chins

Would like see Groves in with the winner if the Froch Fights isnt going to happen.

Edit - or is this a light heavy fight?

Yeah it's light heavyweight. I'm aghast at how Bute struggled with the SMW limit because even when he got into the ring I always thought he looked wirey and weak. He's tall but definately was never what I'd class as a big SMW.

I'm really looking forward to this fight tho and expect Pascal to eventually come from behind to stop a knackered Bute in around round 9.

I didnt know he had struggled. I thought he went up to 175 for the opportunity of a big fight with Pascal and also because he got his ass handed to him by Froch.

With all the money they've been throwing about, this would be a good chance for BT Sports to step in with their first live event outwith Friday Night Fights.

Yeah you always heard the Candaian fans giving it the 'ohhhhhhh he makes SMW easily' in one breath and then you'd see the commentators mentioning that Bute was getting in the ring a ton heavier than at the weigh in. If you are putting on tons of weight between weigh in and fight then you are struggling to make weight, you can't do both and on the scales he would look ripped as hell, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work it out. But then Canadian boxing fans are amongst (and I don't mean all of them obviously) the daftest I have ever had the displeasure of having to debate with over the years. Thankfully they disappeared off the face of the planet after Froch did his demolition job on Bute's face.

He was huge for the weight no doubt. I dont know how tall he is but he seemed to tower over Froch.

Bute always blows up in weight between fights. McCracken mentioned how big he was at the first Froch press conference. I fancy him on points next Saturday.

potentially great fight. bute may carry 175 better than pascal, but Pascal's been doing that weight for a few years. hopefully the pascal shoulder holds up - even when it did go, in the 2nd of those absolute wars with Adrian diaconu (another Romanian-Canadian) he put in a ferocious, winning effort.

bute needs to buckle down. he has allowed fights to drift and other fighters (to various degrees, froch and grachev) have dictated the pace to him, which is not good for bute. things go best for bute when he stays alert and buries that left hand into his opponent's mid section (zuniga, Andrade 2). Pascal's much the harder man, with bute the superior technician. while not for a world title, the national rivalry angle should elevate this one (plus the possibility of a lucrative rematch), which I expect to catch fire.

Yeah I'm hyped for this fight. It seems Bute's being overlooked to a degree, Froch exposed his frailty under fire (Andrade also) but the power, speed and footwork is still there. Whether the confidence to execute is still there I don't know but that left uppercut to the body cripples people. Miranda, Magee and Brinkley as well all got caught with it. We've seen Pascal stunned a few times but he seems to shake it off eg I remember him getting rooted to the spot by a Dawson left in the last round after outworking him.

Height wise yes, but you see how spindly he looks when he flexes at weigh ins and obviously how he has been manhandled by Froch and Andrade in their first fights, he definately wasn't a strong super middleweight.
