Degale against Chavez Jnr
Reading on Twitter that this has been ordered for a final eliminator for the WBC title. Assume at Supper Middle. A great opportunity for Degale if it comes off. Dont suppose it will be at the Glow though !!

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
I,d love to see this fight,i was wondering when the benefit of Degale,s WBC Silver title would take effect
I think Degale has a chance to win this fight but he cant retreat to the ropes like he usually does or he,ll get beat up
Chavez Jr wins by KO late on for me though

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Junior has had zero fights at Super Middle in his entire career. So a well earned opportunity then?!
Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Would be really cool of this came off.
Let's wait and se though, always seems to be all kinds of shady stuff surrounding any of Jnr's fights.

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
I like Degale in this fight if it comes off. Degale is so much more skilled than Jr and enough so to negate any size difference, which in my opinion won't be that much. If it happened I'd be concerned if it happened in Texas and if any drug tests were taking place and how they took place. If it is an even playing field, Degale could definitely win.

Chavez Jr won't even try to make the weight.
Degale wouldnt motivate him in the slightest.

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Chavez jnr has everything to lose and absolutely nothing to gain, this fight will not happen for that reason. There's many, many, many more millions to be made out of Chavez jnr and they would never let him near DeGale.
Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
True, but at the same time he has a very strong relationship with the WBC, so they're likely to want to give him every chance to get the belt at 168lbs. His team might not see Degale as much of a threat.JimJim2009 wrote:Chavez jnr has everything to lose and absolutely nothing to gain, this fight will not happen for that reason. Exactly right. Crook shite politics.earsjohn wrote:Junior has had zero fights at Super Middle in his entire career. So a well earned opportunity then?!
And I would fully expect Degale to win.

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
To be fair, I have not got anything against fighters getting opportunities based on their achievements at a lower weight.
As for the fight itself? I would be confident of a DeGale win

Yes! Froch will be crying into his museli, or Gomez's arms at this news, Chavez Jr is tight with the WBC I can't see them turning down what will be perceived to be an easy fight, it'll be a great match upJ-C wrote:True, but at the same time he has a very strong relationship with the WBC, so they're likely to want to give him every chance to get the belt at 168lbs. Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
I'd be surprised if this happens.
Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Degale will have to knock him out or absolutely whitewash him to get the decision, considering Junior's last fight. I fully expect Degale to win, but Chavez will 'win'.

this is exactly how I read it
degale is a good fighter, bordering on world class, but they may not see him as a real threat to their man.
Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Thought Degale was against Periban and Chavez was against Vera again ??? Still no seen that fight yet from what I read it made Bradley Pacquaio look like a fair result.

DeGale would look like Anton DeBeke partnering Anne Widdicombe if he fought JCCJnr.

Degale would have a field day on Chavez!

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
I can see James DeGale winning this as I think he is too quick, smart and skillful for the bigger and slower Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr and will use his superior amateur background to simply get in put together 4/5 punch combinations and then get on his bike before Chavez Jnr can use his size to try and force DeGale back onto the ropes where he will look to try and take DeGale's legs out with body shots forcing DeGale to trade with him. I think it will be either a wide points win or a late compassionate stoppage.

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Chavez Jr will trap Chunky on the ropes and end him. Degale has not impressed with his power or his ability to finish off an opponent. he takes way too many shots on the ropes and takes far too many breaks in a fight. He has a great skill set, but he will need a proper gameplan against Chavez jr (who is very under rated) and I doubt he could stick to it for 12 rounds.
Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Chunky takes a shot & Chavez ain't no big time banger!!! He's durable & strong aided by peds he don't have the skillset to beat chunky he can't beat Brian Vera & stopping andy lee had been done before degale is far better

Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
DeGail needs to get fit and on his bike. If he moves for 12 rounds he can win. If he rope-a-dopes he loses
Re: Degale against Chavez Jnr
Chavez has already signed up to a rematch with Vera in March.
