I would like the following records to be amended. One of the biggest boxing events staged in Leeds, England was on 5th November 1962. The venue was Queens Hall, Leeds, the building of the former tram sheds. All records of that event show that it took place at Leeds Town Hall, a completey different venue, and in the interest of accuracy the amendment should be made.
I personally attended the event along with friends who can corroborate this, including a former professional boxer from Leeds, Dave Tuohey.(ID32852)
I am also in possession of copies of reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper of 5th Nov 1962 showing a photograph of the weigh in of Winstone and Jeffrey, together with the great Sugar Ray Robinson, who boxed a 3 round exhibition bout, opponent unknown. Also the same newspaper of the following day showing the results and photos of the Winstone fight. Both show the Queens Hall as the venue.
The fights were as follows.
Featherweight - Howard Winstone(ID19255) then unbeaten but future world champion lost to Leroy Jeffery(ID20214) of Michigan. Bantamweight - Alan Rudkin(ID11507) bt Danny Wells(ID31003). Featherweight - Frankie Taylor(ID30364) bt Tommy Atkins (ID32843). Featherweight - Billy Calvert(ID20207) bt Teddy Rand (ID20212). Welterweight - Mike Fleetham(ID28759) bt Billy Gale(ID303325) Middleweight - Sid Parkinson(ID554411) bt Maxie Smith(ID24255).
Could you please make the necessary amendments.
