Zbigniew Pietrzykowski's Amateur Record

Post by Venceremos »

You can see a version of it in http://www.geocities.com/pedrinet/zp.html

Pietrzykowski, who beats twice Laszlo Papp, lost against Papp at 71 Kg's Melbourne Olympics Semi-finals (1956) and against Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) at 81 Kg's Rome Olympics Final (1960). He also participates as favourite in 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, where he lost unexpectedly at 81 Kg's Semifinals against a Soviet boxer. He retires in 1968 at 33 years old.

Great thanks to Yaras72.

Great fighter, gave Ali hell in the first two thirds of their matchup which were dead even, lost steam in the third though and was defeated by "the greatest". He was at least two divisions out of his weight class by that time however, so the accomplishment--winning the silver--is grand nevertheless.
