I think old Foreman mark 11 would have been beaten until his face looked like mash potato. 8 rounds.

Young Foreman stamina was poor, and he was crude. If we are talking peak Tyson, he's on another level. Tyson in 5.

I honestly don't know. At times in the past I've gone with Foreman while at others I picked Tyson. Definitely a fight that isn't going to the cards and probably not very late at that. I can envision a slugfest resulting in multiple knockdowns similar to Foreman vs Lyle, but who wins I haven't a clue.

Prime Foreman takes Tyson out by round 6. He won't get a chance to get tired. And Tyson was always intimidated by those types, so he would not have been at his best as he needed that mental edge.

A wise post. The majority always equates this to the 1st Frazier-Foreman and that certainly makes sense. However a prime Tyson was surprisingly quick and was a puncher along the lines of George and Lyle so I could see him dropping George and then swarming him, but against Lyle young George showed the ability to get up and fight back after essentially being KTFO and Tyson never showed that heart and desire. My choice would be George inside of 3 rounds, but George was one of the most hittable HW champs and Tyson was one of the hardest punching, so anythings possible.

Old George would have gotten massacred. Much slower than the young George and obviously diminished power, it would have been over pretty quickly.

Thank you and likewise. I just can't see making either of two very aggressive and hard sluggers the overwhelming favorite over the other. One thing I would be certain of though. The crowd would get its money worth.

Maybe but I always questions why Tyson's people kept him away from even an old George Foreman.

And what makes you think they kept him away from George, who spent the majority of his second career avoiding anybody breathing that didn't have a title rather than George not looking for him as he avoided every other decent HW of the era prior to his title fight with Holyfield? I remember at least two ocassions where George stated during an HBO broadcast that he had no desire to fight Tyson, and while he is known for insincerity, there is no reason to believe that a prime Tyson would have feared anyone and every reason to believe that the ATG HW with the most carefully managed career in history would have been reluctant to fight a guy who had cleaned out the division. Have you ever looked at George's resume prior to the Holyfield fight? The only two reasonable threats mysteriously quit on their stools, Cooper after very little action, and a bloated Qawi after a pretty decent scrap. There was no Tubbs, Tucker, Witherspoon, Weaver, not even a Tillis or Norris on his resume.

I don't know if I necessarily agree that he would have gotten "massacred." The second coming of George Foreman brought a slower moving and perhaps even lesser hitting rendition of the former one. But these were not the only changes we saw. A vastly improved defense, better techniques for tying up an opponent, straiter punches and energy conservation were also featured in this new version of George. Tyson loved to fight at mid to close range, but so did Foreman. His cross armed defense would make him hard to hit flush and his tendency to give a good gut check in the clinches took its toll over rounds. He also got away with pushing smaller men into mid range where he could pelt them with his over hand rights and crosses. In addition George could still hit hard at that stage and take a pretty good shot too, as Holyfield, Morrison, Stewart, Cooney, Saverese, Briggs and several others found out.... If this fight ever happened, it likely would have been between 1990-1991 after kevin had left Tyson's camp and Mike had abandoned a lot of his combinations and upper body movement to go for the knockout punch.. In such instance, he would have had an even tougher time with old George.. But I agree that Tyson would still likely win... Just not in the destructive one sided fashion that you surmise he would.

I like how George said it on the David Letterman Show after fighting Cooney:

"It would go three rounds. Either I'm knocking him out, or he's knocking me out."

I like either Foreman, I'd give Mike a better chance against the younger George.

Prime for prime, Foreman wins by stoppage. Prime Tyson vs peak Foreman 2.0 (Holyfield fight), Tyson wins a decision. Foreman vs Tyson circa 1992 . . .could go either way. I lean towards Tyson still winning a decision but he'd have to dig deep.
