Tickets sellers, Prospects and Journeymen

Anyone have an insight into how this works now.


How many tickets or how much does a prospect need to shift to get looked after?

What is a decent amount of tickets for a lad looking to turn over if he has half decent ability ?

Any other info on this would be appreciated

You need to sell enough to cover ur opponents wage and what ever the promoter wants if anything to be on his show. That's the min u need to do. If you want a wage also (alot of the lads box for free) you then have to sell the tickets to cover that. You could be a pile of shit but if u sell loads of tickets you will be looked after.

What about guys that arent big ticket sellers but seem to make a lot of money anyway? I mean guys like Degale, etc? If you're an olympian do you get extra leeway or something?

Of course if you take a good amateur pedigree with you you will then get a good deal with top promoter. Some take a wage per week some get big signing bonus etc then they will get sponsors etc

Ok so about 3k ? I assume thats 1k for an opponent 1k - manager 25%? trainer 10%? leaving about 650 for the lad and the promotors 1k towards the show costs ?

If a promoter asked me for a grand I'd laugh at him!! The deals Iv had have been my opponents wage which is about 1100 and then as much as I want as a wage I had to then sell that in tickets. As far as paying to be on the show some haven't charged me anything and others hav been 200/250 max

So I assume when it comes to title fights british and above this changes ?
Obv tv is a diff ballgame but if a fighter is on q bigger purse then he cant do it via tickets ?

You are very knowlegable and experienced in the business what would you expect a purse to be for a british title chalenger and champ.

Again I am sure this depends on a number of factors e.g. weight and who it is but in general

So than you have mangers trainers sparring partners hotels etc etc to come out of that aswell so with the lower British title fights. smaller weights and probably the likes of Darren Hamilton at a guess if say the champions come out with 10 and the challengers 5 evenness sometimes and at that level they only normally fight around 3 x a year so not as good as people perceive it to be. Like what has already been said small hall fighters normally get £1000for selling 100 normal tickets about £1100 goes to the away fighter the rest outgoings for the show than the promoter gets what's left. Hard old game for all involved.

Eastern europe guys are cheaper but then you have to pay for flights hotel foriegn boxer fee and other stuff so really used more in emergencys or with guys very tough to match

I bet some of there agents are a nightmare to work with, have you picked up any Hungarian or Romanian?

Thats why I respect boxers especially domestic boxers in this country so much.

Unlike your pansy footballers, a lot of boxers even some British/Commonwealth champions have "day" jobs and do it because they love the sport.

A lot of good domestic fighters, area title level even some above actually lose money boxing (time off work, expenses etc)

Can't knock them.

Obviosuly I'm not saying a lot of boxers don't earn good money but there are a lot who basically boxing costs them money.

When I tell my mates, football fans etc they find it mad that a guy could be fighting for a title live on sky sports/channel 5/allegedly 1 week then come Monday be laying bricks on a building site etc.

Also have to feel for a lot of good boxers domestically who have the talent but can't sell many tickets, they usually never make any money/don't get the chances a lot of lesser boxers but bigger ticket sellers do.
