A poor Roy Jones Junior Imitation !

Post by jessi »

Pascal tried 3 or 4 different moves from the great Roy Jones Junior ! Jones in his corner is a hinderance IMO ! It's almost as embarrassing as Broner trying to copy Mayweather !
Just be yourself :witzend:

Pascal is a strange cookie! Strange tactics. Fair enough Pascal does struggle with a sustained high pace but Bute was a nervous wreck over the first eight rounds anytime Pascal applied a bit of pressure. Fairly boring fight.

Yep totally agree, bute will never be as good as he once was (or as good as we "thought" he once was), froch, groves, and stevonson destroy pascal

Froch already fought Pascal and didn't come close to destroying him; I don't see what is so different now. Sure, Pascal can be lazy, but he's also very fast, has good power, and is deceptively hard to catch. He gets rocked every now and then but has shown solid recovery powers.

I would give Pascal an outside shot against Stevenson and a big shot against Groves.

disagree, What's different now is pascal looks awful at times, bute since the froch fight looks even more awful, froch fought pascal along time ago, his gained a lot of experience since. Pascal has gone down hill ever since that night just like bute has too. Groves is to hungry and as for stevonson, well just forget him

Pascal is the same fighter he always was.

If anyone has gone downhill it's Froch based on his last fight.

Come on, yes froch might of based on the groves fight, but pascal IMO should of got rid of a very poor bute ! Canada has long searched for a new Gatti and these two last night let themselves down, hope Stevenson keeps delivering

First three posts don't give away the result; they should've stopped reading after that.

80/20 must be joking, I even thought about putting spoiler on the title. But I'm sorry it's the same old argument, NO way would you come on a boxing forum let alone open a topic with the name of the person your trying to avoid the result of.....

I don't know what people expected from Pascal ?, he has never been a real pressure fighter but uses his speed and strength through counter punching. He looked very awkward whenever he tried to put pressure on Bute and kept running forward. He got the win and think he would look better against someone who will engage first.

Ive just read the review on boxrec news by Danny Wright

"Pascal a convincing winner"

"Pascal started to take control as early as the second."

"While Bute’s jerky movement made it difficult for Pascal to land cleanly, the latter’s workrate was higher"

Jim Watt thought Bute won, Pascal faded badley, it ended up a very close fight despite the ridiculous scores by the judges, both fighters have seen better days.

time for Stevenson to have a big event fight with pascal.

Stevenson is proof that Canadian boxing - which still has a big stage - has not run out of steam.

there have been some good times. diaconu was moved too slowly for a sawn off pressure fighter, but his exit fights vs pascal are classics that show both at their best. pascal, after thrilling defeat to froch, had his day as the lineal light heavy champ, & fought names like dawson & Hopkins (disappointing in the rematch). bute was moved carefully, but rebounded from lucky win over Andrade with some superb body shot beatdowns of zuniga, Miranda, & in a rematch Andrade, to consolidate himself as the crowd favourite before froch tore into him.

Stevenson, under the radar, was a huge surprise winning ring magazine's fighter of the year as reward for going up in weight & stopping champ dawson, ex champ cloud & mandatory bellew...just as MMA legend George st pierre looks on the way out, canadkian combat sports has someone to get behind.

be nice to see Stevenson v pascal before Stevenson-kovalev unification which is in adonis' contract with HBO.

I've read a few articles on this fight and they generally say that Pascal "dominated" and they're actually bigging him up.

Pascal was atrocious. Why's he getting hyped up based on that woeful performance?

He's another Broner: A lazy, idiotic hypejob.

Bute looked terrified from the ring walk onwards. He's finished.

How bad would it have been had he won and fought Stevenson?

Stevenson would have obliterated him.

He did what he had to do to win. That's not laziness, it's intelligent boxing.

I agree with this, Pascal was never going to look good against Bute, it's just not the style to make him look good. He got the win and hopefully we see Pascal in with either Stevenson, Kovalev or Shumenov. Imo he would have the best chance against Shumenov.
