Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
so pascal-bute wasn't any good?
a cynical cash in?
if they'd fought their arses off they'd have a big money rematch.
anyone think this is one of those fighs that had to happen when, say, both were champs?
turns out the Canadian superfights were pascal-diaconu 1 & 2 - gruelling fights - from a few years ago.

So it's not worth watching the replay today?
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Pretty boring fight with a lot more posturing than punching. There was some sense of drama early as it seemed like Pascal had a good chance of stopping Bute, but around the middle of the fight it seemed like a wide Pascal decision was inevitable.winkveron wrote:So it's not worth watching the replay today?
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
It's a strange bout to watch, Bute looked very nervous early on; Pascal fought in spurts but Bute did even less. Pascal seemed to really gas around the 10th and Bute seemed to believe in himself a bit more. Pascal did nothing at all for a minute of the last round and Bute went for him. The bout will probably do wonders for Butes confidence. I imagine Stevenson and Kovalev will look forward to boxing Pascal.
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Just watching the replay. Bute doesn't even look like he wants to be doing the ring walk.
Head's gone.

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Not really sure how Watt had Bute winning that
I think what we can safely say once more is that Pascal has no faith in his stamina and Bute just has no faith.

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
I imagine Bute will take more confidence from going 12 rounds and not being overly troubled; he was far too hesitant and nervous throughout; Bute tooks some good punches pretty flush and he seemed more sturdy than I feared for him. Pascal seems to fight only a third of a round and I'll put money on Kovalev or Stevenson stopping him - in the last round I thought he could have gone; he'll not be able to stand in a corner for a minute with Kovalev landing on him.
I thought that the bout would be more heated and there'd be more ambition to put on a good show.

Had to laugh at the tweet from the fake allegedly account.Lenny wrote:Not really sure how Watt had Bute winning that

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Ive just watched the card and i had it 116-113 to Pascal,i always thought Bute would have lost something after getting oblitirated by Froch but jesus although ive thought he was a tad overrated,i cant believe how timid he looks,he looks totally petrified someone throws a combination towards him
Pascal scored a legitimate KD IMO but he just seemed to blackout or something the last few rounds, strange he didnt look gassed, seems like one of his traits
Im a big fan of Jim Watt but he had a mare last night

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Anyone else notice Pascal closing some rounds out by circling around to his corner after hearing the ten-second warning and then just covering up and waiting there for the bell to go? Between that and the 3-second spurts of activity, he has really thought hard about how best to cope with his shitty stamina
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Jim Watt is absolutely off his head if he had that one as a Bute win, the man's lost the plot. Bute was pawing and nervous throughout the fight, a dull fight it was, but the meaningful work was done by Pascal throughout until the last 2 rounds when he clearly switched off as he felt he had the fight in the bag - silly tactics to employ of course but I felt he was winning by 5-ish rounds at that point.
The 2 rounds of silliness brought it down to a closer mark but Bute just did nothing, if tentative jabs that barely land win you a round then I'm not gona bother watching boxing anymore. Bute was an absolute shell of a fighter, confidence in bits and didn't seem to come out of his coma til the 11th round. Jim Watt - plot lost.

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Watt was simply tragic. Pascal cruised the entire fight and pressured just enough practically every round. Bute looked scared from start to finish in my view
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
They mentioned he struggles making weight now so maybe that's part of the issue. He looks took short for cruiser though.dookus wrote:Anyone else notice Pascal closing some rounds out by circling around to his corner after hearing the ten-second warning and then just covering up and waiting there for the bell to go? Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
I scored Takem vs Perez as 97-94 to Carlos Takam.
Perez went off the boil and Takam grew in confidence. Outhustled and out-fought Perez on the inside. Fight was slow getting going. Perez lucky to get a draw.
Main event
Bute was ineffective. Pascal so much quicker and toying with him. Even when Bute had a steady round, he would still end up getting caught-out by the flashy bursts of Pascal.
Pascal pretty much did as he pleased. I thought it was a very good performance by him and he was a worthy winner.
I scored it 118-111 to Pascal.

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Pascal hardly did anything in almost every round, he didn't make anything clear.95gerog wrote:Watt was simply tragic. Pascal cruised the entire fight and pressured just enough practically every round. Bute looked scared from start to finish in my view

Explain how Bute did more?????Horse wrote:Pascal hardly did anything in almost every round, he didn't make anything clear.95gerog wrote:Watt was simply tragic. Pascal cruised the entire fight and pressured just enough practically every round. Bute looked scared from start to finish in my view
I had Pascal 116-112 (being generous for Bute) as he through more harder punches
Bute didn't do a thing until the end
Watt was awful

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Scoring it round by round, it was a close fight.
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
It was close in a lot of rounds and Bute could have nicked them or got an even round. They both barely did anything.rossij8 wrote:Explain how Bute did more?????

Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
He hardly did anything you are right. But he did enough in nearly every round. Its says more about bute in my opinion. Pascal only has to beat whats infront of him.Horse wrote:Pascal hardly did anything in almost every round, he didn't make anything clear.95gerog wrote:Watt was simply tragic. Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Sounds like Stevenson can rest easy.
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Stevenson will be worrying whether he gets the pascal fight. will pascal fancy it?
Re: Bute/Pascal UK Start Time?
Pascal didn't sound like he fancied it, I wonder if he'll allow Stevenson free shots on his chin because he loves the pain?
To be honest I'd bet on Bute if they rematched to outwork him with the knowledge he took the best shots Pascal could throw. Although Bute's stamina isn't great. I can't see either guy lasting against the top 2. If Pascal had any sort of stamina then maybe, but he doesn't. As it is he does nothing better than Stevenson for me, maybe a better chin but the difference in power is much greater
