Don't get so excited, guys. This was Bert "I Sure Kin Pickem" Sugar we're talking about. When was the last time he actually picked the winner in a major fight? 1962? The guy has a big mouth, smokes big cigars and wears a big hat. He's made for TV. Like Bozo the Clown.

The International Boxing Research Organization (IBRO) came out with such a list this past March, in its Journal Issue #85. Note, however, that approximately one-half of its members did not vote, for one reason or another. So the list is based upon ballots submitted by 45 members. Their Top 20 Heavyweight List is:
20. Bob Fitzsimmons
19. James J. Corbett
18. Harry Wills
17. Ezzard Charles
16. Jersey Joe Walcott
15. Sam Langford
14. Evander Holyfield
13. Mike Tyson
12. Lennox Lewis
11. Gene Tunney
10. Joe Frazier
9. Sonny Liston
8. George Foreman
7. James J. Jeffries
6. Larry Holmes
5. Rocky Marciano
4. Jack Dempsey
3. Jack Johnson
2. Muhammad Ali
1. Joe Louis

(42 members participated in the Light Heavyweight balloting, too.)
