Tony Tucker v. Jerry Quarry
Who would win?
Re: Tony Tucker v. Jerry Quarry
I'd have to go with Quarry. He just showed too much in his career. It's not clear cut but Jerry has better skills and a better pedigree.
Re: Tony Tucker v. Jerry Quarry
Tony had mad skills, but they were never totally developed, and Jerry outworks him for the UD in ,10,12, or 15 rounds.

I think Tucker was possibly the most talented of the 80's under-acheivers, but Quarry had the experience and heart to overcome Tucker's physical advantages pull it out. A near tossup but I'd give the edge to Quarry.

Greg Page over Tony Tucker all the time. The Great John L wrote:I think Tucker was possibly the most talented of the 80's under-acheivers, but Quarry had the experience and heart to overcome Tucker's physical advantages pull it out. A near tossup but I'd give the edge to Quarry.

You really are a Page fan. No doubt that when he was on his game he was very good.Nile4000 wrote:Greg Page over Tony Tucker all the time. The Great John L wrote:I think Tucker was possibly the most talented of the 80's under-acheivers, but Quarry had the experience and heart to overcome Tucker's physical advantages pull it out. Re: Tony Tucker v. Jerry Quarry
Quarry is the better legacy fighter and probably p4p as well. But Tony Tucker didn't fit into the mold of the slow plodding big men that Jerry was able to beat. He had sound boxing skills, good left hook, fair defense, and at 6'5", 225 lbs ( when prime ) was significantly larger than Quarry. Tony also had a chin. Quarry might win some of the early rounds. But with his tendency to get cut and decked, I think he'd get broken down for the stoppage somewhere between rounds 7-9.

Quarry easy decision. Tucker would get outworked and outboxed . . .it took more than some height and a quick left jab to beat Jerry.
Tucker is getting badly over-rated here. He looked like poo in most of his pre-Tyson matches and even vs Iron Mike didn't do much beyond constantly hold and run.
