World Title fight & more in Newcastle Arerna 29th March

Post by Clint Magnum »

Word is that Stuart Hall will be defending his IBF World title at Newcastle Metro Arena on Saturday 29th March 2014. Also on the bill will be Bradley Saunders WBO Intercontinental stab, John Lewis Dickinson defending Britsh Tiltle against Neil Dawson & possibly Frankie Gavin & some local boxers & Warren boxers supporting.
Calzaghe is doing a meet n greet in Newcastle that afternoon & then heading across the Arena for the show if any of you are into that sort of thing.
Hopefully the show will be confirmed on Bnation soon, alternatively if your a real boxing fan now is your chance to stop moaning about small hall shows, put your money where your mouth is and get tickets & support boxing in the NE! :box:

The challenger hasn't been announced. Rumours about it being Butler or Jamie but its not been offically announced yet, so don't know if he has chosen a madatory for his 1st.

I doubt it's either. Why would he give Hearn a chance? And Butler is boxing in Liverpool on March 1st. He will be next after a straight forward defence.

Hope this is confirmed and doesn't suffer from any drop outs. Be interesting to see the caliber of opponent brought in for hall, Gavin and Saunders.

Brad needs a step up and there should be a decent budget to bring Frankie someone good in.

Is it possible for him to defend against himself? That's more Tyson Fury's style.

can't see the promoter who invested a lot of time and money in the 'rightful champion' not to mention getting him the title fight in his home town (at a loss) but who he then dropped (or allowed himself to be poached), being very happy to do that.

1 NOT RATED
2 NOT RATED
3 Jamie McDonnell
4 Randy Caballero
5 Kohei Oba
6 Julio Ceja
7 Vusi Malinga
8 Karim Guerfi
9 Daniel Rosas
10 Sergio Perales
11 Stephane Jamoye
12 Ryosuke Iwasa
13 Lee Haskins
14 Paulus Ambunda
15 Martin Ward

Could Martin Ward become the least likely British "world" title challenger of recent times? Expect howls of frustration from Bristol if he does.

Ward sounds likely - an all north-east world title fight

Good call. Ward may not be the most deserving but this is pro boxing and, just like Stu Hall, you take your chances in life when they arise. It would be a good NE battle and possibly a good tune up for Hall before fighting someone higher ranking.
