Well our old friend TBA has dropped off the schedule, and Billy Lyell of the USA has stepped into the Boxa breach at very short notice.

Billy's last fight almost a year ago was a 4 rounder, which he won, against a poor sod boasting a 8w-45l-2d record.

And Mundine expects suckers to fork out PPV bucks for this pitiful main-event, supported by a very lop-sided mediocre undercard, including his mate Quade, taking on a senior citizen!

Would have loved to have seen him give Lovemore a shot.\
I agree Dan, Lovemore would have been great and should fit in the age bracket for Choc.
Dawson wouldn't be available due to injury and Im sure lovemore is walking around in shape !! Now I am going to try and find a positive in Lyell - he has won the fights he should and when he has stepped up with Chavez Jnr, Sylvester etc he has gone the distance. But yes, his recent form isn't great. And what an atrocious undercard. Surely the Aloua fight cant be allowed !!

I wonder why Kiwi Gunnar Jackson missed out, given he was one on short notice list?

Aloua should beat Iakopo yes, but a fit and motivated Iakopo is a dangerous beast IMO. Ok he's 1-11-2 but lets have a look at who the blokes fought most if not ALL have been at short notice.

He's tough and can punch a bit and will make Aloua earn it. Is it worthy of a PPV undercard probably not on paper but should be a decent scrap.

Yep, Iakopo's record is a little deceiving. certainly not one of those fighters that was bought along slowly by his management...although based on the fights his taaken I assume he has no management

Did you recently knock back a fight due to there not being any decent money offered? If so, i doubt you will be fighting on a mundine card, unless you are happy to fight for tickets, which you then need to on sell yourself...

dan h I agree mate Iakopo does have a deiceiving record. Most of his fights hes taken short notice. Had he been alot younger when he turned pro and wanted to make a career or attempt to make a career out of it no doubt he'd have sort a different route. However he has always been happy to jump in and give it a crack and pick up some cash! The sport survives because of the Iakopo's of the world.

Indeed he does.

Last minute call up for Jackson but he'd be silly to turn it down. :bag:

Ok, so am I the only one in sheer disgust at this fight.

He deserves it? What are you on! Nice blokes, with very poor records, or padded if you will, don't deserve to be on PPV card's headlining, and charging the public $49.95. This is absolutely my final straw with this germ Khoder, and Mundine well what is there to say that hasn't already. Ryan Waters had more credentials than Gunner.

Nothing at Gunner, but he deserves a shot at mainstream headline fights as much as quade Cooper does.

NICE GUY OR NOT.......LIKE fornicate IM EVEN MAKING THE PUB FOR THIS, AND I BUY EVERY CARD EXCEPT MUNDINES THAT FEATURES AUSTRALIANS, NORMALLY GO TO THE PUB FOR MUNDINES,BUT fornicate THIS.

Well it's certainly not worth 50 bucks, I'm just happy that Gunnar Jackson's getting a little shot at fame. Didn't you like Rocky? (on a small scale) I agree with your sentiments though, I don't think Mundine has been worth ppv for years.

Hounddawg, you make good points. Would Gunnar be first choice Mundine opponent if the fight were6-8 weeks away? Probably not but given late notice etc it has created a opportunity for Gunnar whos a hard working genuine good guy. It's his chance at a rocky moment as tsmithy50 has suggested. Lifes all about taking opportunities and making the most of the ones that come your way and thats exactly what Gunnar is doing picking this chance up and running with it. Be awesome for people to get behind him as the rank outsider and I know he'll go out on his shield!

if u don't agree with it don't watch it. u r not obliged to u know.

the final straw was years ago for most sane people, lol.

I'm astounded how anybody could be upset with with something like this.

This is true. Sounds like Mundine only cares about himself. If this is how he treats the undercard fights then boxing wont grow in Australia. The big guys have to help grow the sport and by doing that you need good undercard fights as well. But, yeah, currently trying to negotiate a fair and reasonable price for me to fight here. its tough when the Mundine people hand cuff the undercard fights. I really hope I can fight here, but I cant do it without a reasonable compromise. Especially since I am already here and the wont have to pay travel from the United States. I have made pretty considerate concessions in regards to travel expenses as well. I am keeping positive and I think it can get done. But, we don't have much time.. fight is next week.

Can anyone in the know let us know what happened with Lyell??
I have no doubt Gunnar is a good bloke, and I like many here buy most PPV's (including Choc v SSM) because I enjoy watching boxing, however the most disgusting thing about this bout is that Choc, Khodder and mainevent are still going to charge $49 for this. I think I will keep my money to watch GGG v Adama at 1am..
Good luck Gunnar, no doubt you will give 100%.

Love Rocky mate, I have the boxset, unfortunately, Gunner doesn't have Mickey in his corner, and Mundine ain't Creed.

And It didn't cost people to watch fights then

Gunner has as much chance of winning this as I do of making the middleweight division

mate not saying he's a bad guy, nothing personal, it's just the shenanigans of this germ promotional team that I would like to see investigated or public approved, or at least censored by main event, this is not even worthy of a fox card....I truly am embarresed for Mundine
