Re: Ron Lyle v. Ray Mercer
A real toughie.
Something tells me that Lyle should win. A shade faster and with better boxing skills than Mercer. Also punched straighter.
But Mercer's super hard chin will survive Lyle's best shots, and somewhere late in the fight, trailing on points, "Merciless" Ray catches Lyle with a series of right hands that badly hurts him and forces the referee to stop the contest.
Mercer by 10th round TKO.

Mercer had the better chin but Lyle had the superior skills and stamina. Lyle outworks Mercer and wins a decision.

I'd take Lyle by decision as well.dempseyfire wrote:Mercer had the better chin but Lyle had the superior skills and stamina. Lyle outworks Mercer and wins a decision.

I can see either of these scenarios occurring. I myself am undecided.dempseyfire wrote:

Both of these guys were a little inconsistent, but Lyle was in a different class than Mercer. Lyle by comfortable decision.
