If Groves thought like that he may as well retire, the only thing certain in life is that it ends.
Groves may believe he can win that, but I'm sure he knows he'd be well up against it. There's nobody in the division who wouldn't think that way deep down.

As a business decision, Ward makes little sense - Ward is the champion, and he is unlikely to offer Groves a great deal, he won't leave the U.S, and he will be huge favourite to win - plus, what makes you so sure Ward is even going to offer him a fight, unless he's the mandatory, can't see it myself.

My point is, Groves could do with dialling down on the goading of Froch, as this is by far the most lucrative fight out there for him, otherwise really he's just there with the rest of the pack, looking for a big fight.

Agreed Groves rubbish that he 'can't' beat froch. He didn't, but of course he can. He could knock froch out, he so nearly did. Not saying he will but he certainly can

I agree, And im not convinced he retires on a win. I think despite his last victory we may see groves has taken a huge chunk out of froch.

I get the vibe the point of Froch on ringside was to use a smokescreen to get Groves to lower his pay demands.

First of all Chavez is rematching Vera on March 1st.

Is it just me but what is the deal with Chavez Jr anyway ??

People only care about him because of his dad's legendary status.

I never saw him as a legit World Champion at Middleweight anyway. He got handed the belt on a plate as his Godfather (the late Jose Suliman) was president of the WBC. When he eventually fought the legit WBC champion he got schooled for 11 rounds. Not only that can he even make Supper Middle ???????

Ultimately money talks and surely a rematch with Groves at Wembley Stadium is more lucrative.

To me, on ringside it looked like Froch was up for it. Then they showed groves getting lippy on screen. Then froch changed his mind to chavez junior. Funny stuff.

He said he would find it extremely difficult to get up to fight Groves again. Who can blame him? Even today on S Sports News you've got Groves on there saying 'rematch or retire, Froch has no options'. It's George short of options.

As for Carl and Eddie on unfriendly terms? Barry is looking for the big money rematch, regardless of what Froch wants, probably down to that. I think the whole event is getting messy and something Froch wants to move on from, I bet he's wishing he'd never had the fight in the first place!
Groves would do well to maybe stop goading Froch - because i think he risks Froch blowing it out just to piss him off.

I think Froch doesn't really need the money, no matter how lucrative it is, and with the prospect of bowing out in Vegas looming, easy for Carl to justify it to himself.

Why put money in the pocket of someone he sees as being disrespectful, when you've already got the win.

I'm not sure this will happen now.
I see problems with the attitude of froch, not groves.

his attitude before and during the fight was dismissive, really affecting his performance. he wasn't prepared to face groves raising his game.

his attitude after was dreadful, getting the crowd against him immediately after one of the most unpopular stoppages of recent times.

froch'd do well to get the crowd behind him. we know how fickle and up and down a crowd can be. well, he can get them back on his side with a more convincing win. a lot of ppl will pay to see him vs George groves, whether they like him or not, and this should be a privilege for a fighter, not something to be mardy about. and if he can get the fans on his side, he can win the big rematch, he's more likely to be able to get a big name over here, which was something I assumed he wanted (given he'd called ward out after the Kessler rematch).

froch was hot after the Kessler rematch, he's cold after groves, but he can be hot again. don't want to see him go over to America - TV date only if he takes on someone the yank networks want to build up. chavez jr would be laughable - the kid didn't even train properly for his last fight, winning a decision more controversial (vs vera) than froch's stoppage over groves.

It'll happen.
All part of the "will he won't he" hype and get ready for the Groves instalment.
The only outstanding issue is Groves demands - he's got to lower them.
Like it or like it not 1/ he isn't a champion 2/ he lost the first fight.
I was at Sky Sports yesterday and not once did I get the feeling from anyone that eventually this one will not be signed sealed and delivered.

Do you want to reword that last line slightly? It seems to contradict your first one :)

You mean you got the impression that they all think it's going to happen?

What do you make of any friction between Hearn and Froch?

Are you involved, in any way, with Team Froch now? Or are your colleagues?

Does it ?
Business is business Orb.
Promotors and fighters have friction but still get it on and work together.
Having said that I haven't heard anything to suggest any friction exists.
Massive money to be made by Froch Groves Promotor and Sky.
This fight will be announced in February I'd place my bet now.

Mickey,
No connection at all to Froch.

Yeah, I think it makes more sense financially and career-wise for Froch than any of the other fights mooted.

Aye, the last line reads like a negative positive. Not once did you get the feeling it will be delivered. Either the second half of the sentence needs to end in a negative or the beginning needs changing.

Groves needs to screw his loaf a little.

If he pandered to Carl's ego a bit then I think the fight would get signed double quick.

As regarding the Groves demands? Not sure he can demand anything. Any fight with Froch will give him a decent pay day, his options outside of that are limited to say the least and certainly nowhere near as lucrative.

Eddie missed his appointment to sit on carls cock because he was taking time out to write his colum in the Mail

Carl took offence and was extremley hurt becuase he was left alone in his house without anyone to cuddle him and tell him how good he was

Carl doesnt want to get close to Eddie icnase he hurts him again

(Allegedly)

Sounds like your right mate, BBC just reported that Groves has turned down a 7 figure offer for the rematch!!

At least 1 million pound when you are not champion and appeared on the verge of getting stopped in the first match before the actual stoppage, seems a strange
decision, he wont get anything like that whomever he fights next, assuming there has to be more to it than the initial report which has just broken
