USA boxing give kids false hope in reno

Post by bwadd21 »

At jr/youth nationals in Reno USA boxing told all the 1st and 2nd place finishers that they were on the USA youth national team. They needed to go home get their passport and be ready to come to Colorado for training in feburary and then be prepared for international competition in March or April in Bulgaria..... Now was told yesterday the person that made that promise no longer works for USA boxing and they can't afford to do anything with the number 2 kids from the tournament! This sport is getting ridiculous . Make all kind of promises to kids and then do nothing to follow through

with that being said by an ex official that tells you why he was fired or simply not an official any longer. You guys don't understand colorado usa officials have to get those big payrolls some way and it isn't by sending kids out of the country

ALSO- as I sat through the meeting the tournament directors failed to let the kids know that of the females only the 112, 132 and 165 girls would be able to compete internationally. They made it seem like all the winners would get an automatic spot on the team also- that was a lie. If you win the Jo or Youth Nationals and take out number one- it didn't mean you would be on the team if the number one had more points than you. It was a learning experience for me to sit through these meetings and discover all kinds of new information that should have been told BEFORE they spent the money to attend the tournament. Yup killing kids dreams- wow

it goe by age they turn in the year and it sometimes gives unfair advantage against older and mature kids
