Awful match up but it does sort of sum up what happens with so many damned titles. I'd feel pissed if I was someone like Ryosue Iwasa or Kohei Oba...

When is his world title shot?
Yep, he thrashed Hall, stopped Ward and edge Haskins. No justice there!

If in the near future, Paul Butler wins this belt and ends up fighting McDonnell, is McDonnell good enough to beat Butler? I haven't seen much of Jamie so wouldn't really know, suppose he has a slight weight advantage with Butler being a natural super fly.

Very impressed with Butler, I hope he doesn't fight Hall soon. I'd like him to fight against a proper world champion (no disrespect to Hall) at Super Fly before moving up.

Think Butler could become a multiple weight world champion and a bit of a star.

Anyone who thinks Lee Haskins beat Jamie McDonnell back in 2008 needs re-watch the tape. Jamie was robbed.

Unconfirmed rumour at the moment. But it seems to have legs with the unexplainable promotion of Ward into the IBF rankings and the local derby nature of the fight.

Exactly, Jamie didn't really start taking the game seriously until he went with Stefy and Dave Hulley.

I met Hall on Sunday, top bloke who had plenty time for a chat. Even he admitted he was lucky to get a shot due to boxing politics.

The rightful champion holds the belt, can't skip mandatory defences.
Oh please. Hall isn't the rightful champ at all.

How is he not? Jamie McDonnell was stupid enough to turn down a mandatory defence and not get it sorted in time, the IBF took the next two highest ranked fighters available, Hall and Malinga, they fought for the belt, Hall won to take the title.

McDonnell was naïve, didn't defend his title so got stripped. He wont be the first & wont be the last!

Surely McDonnell pays someone to make sure mandatorys etc are taking care off

Who knows what really happened, maybe it was Jamie, maybe it was Dennis Hobson, either way it seems like a waste of money for Hobson

Im pretty sure the mandatory was arranged and McDonnell wasnt happy about the money on offer and turned it down and thus lost his belt in the process.
