I think it will be,it should be an improved offer on the last one but he will not get more money for any other fight.I can`t think of another fight out there for Groves at the moment where he will get near 7 figures mayby he will in the future but not next.Groves is the one who has been whinging about he rematch so hopefully he doesn`t get to greedy.500BHP wrote:Depends on the offer, has to be fair.ashedward wrote:We shall see what Matchroom offers Georgie boy this week, if they make no formal offer to Groves this week then blame Matchroom. However if they make an offer(now there will be no options attached) and Groves turns it down then he only has himself to blame if Froch moves on to another fight.500BHP wrote:No options on a mandatory.

For sure,I don't blame him for turning the original offer down,I think he has played the game well so far and he will get a better offer this week and I think he will take it.500BHP wrote:ashedward wrote: I think it will be,it should be an improved offer on the last one but he will not get more money for any other fight.I can`t think of another fight out there for Groves at the moment where he will get near 7 figures mayby he will in the future but not next.Groves is the one who has been whinging about he rematch so hopefully he doesn`t get to greedy.
If the offer is in accordance to the standard Mandatory criteria, there can no mistake GG is to blame if the fight does not happen, but so far it's not his fault.

How can who I choose to blame be wrong? It's my own personal opinion based on my grasp of the facts as they are known (ie, completely unknown). I choose to blame George, and whether you agree or not, it is my right.500BHP wrote:Then you, sir, are entirely wrong. No options on a mandatory and the % is 25.earsjohn wrote:I disagree. You're pretty good with those pictures; I reckon you could do a good video montage of Groves for youtube that makes him look a tenth as much of a dick as Froch

If he does that, its over. If they do this, its done. If that happens, its off!G0mez wrote: "I can see Froch just dropping the belt."
"So technically he dont even need the IBF (although be nicer if he did have it)."
"Froch / Hearn are sticking with the rematch for the next few days, and if Groves continues being a difficult and precious negotiator, they will just move on. Eddie has pride and wants to provide it for the fans and for SKY but if Groves wont play ball then that's that."
Some telling vibes coming out of that Froch camp!

Re: Groves now contesting the IBF again over the 15% ruling
I've not kept bang on top of developments over the past 2 days but I read that Groves is now contesting the 15% ruling. Some folk seem to think it indicates evidence of poor decision making on his part, as if he's screwed himself over.....
The difference between 25% and 15% is around £400k based on the million quid purse Eddie spoke of last week.
George wasn't in the mandatory slot last month - he was 5th, behind two fighters in 3rd and 4th, with the 1st and 2nd positions vacant.
George spent a small fortune on legal representation to handle his appeal to the IBF, which led to him being granted an immediate rematch.
Remember - the IBF did not order an immediate rematch after the fight. Froch did not agree to an immediate rematch either, and Eddie Hearn the promoter talked about it but also said he works for the champ, and talked about going down the Chavez Jnr route.
So, George stood up for himself, put his money where his mouth is, and got what he wanted - an immediate rematch.
Then the 15% issue comes up. Its inconceivable he didn't know about it. He is now challenging the IBF to improve the terms. Of course he is - there is potentially £400k at stake !!!!!!!!
Remember, George has just got what he wants by standing up for himself, and making a formal challenge. Why on earth would he not do the same when there is hundreds of thousands of pounds at stake ?
It may work, it may not work, he is just holding out for the best possible payday. So is Froch, and Eddie will earn well from the fight too.
Don't understand why anyone things Groves has shot himself in the foot ?
(but the images are funny!)

If George fights for a vacant title, it won't be in a leisure centre. You're just exaggerating now. I've told you a million times, stop exaggerating.G0mez wrote:

All this is it happening, is it not, is just raising interest in the fight. Froch ain't gonna vacate. The match will be made and Froch will knock him out in.

You say Groves spent a small fortune on Lawyers re the IBF appeal. Is that a fact or your assumption ? Any Lawyer with appropriate boxing knowledge would have known in advance the 15% rule.
Needs to get a decent Lawyer next time. If it was a small fortune - oh dear.

He said so when he commented on all this a few days ago. Can't remember the exact words - the words "small fortune" are my own, but he emphasised the time and money he's put into this IBF appeal.Parson Cross wrote:Jimjim

I haven't tuned into this saga for a couple of days and may well be missing something. Do the Groves-bashers seriously think he went into this without knowing the 15% rule ? I mean, seriously ?
It would suit people's mindset that Groves has indeed gone and put his foot in it but I find it hard to believe.
In any event, what's the problem with people who are against Groves on this point ? The guy wants a rematch, which is fair enough, and he doesn't want to sign options, which is fair enough, and he wants to get a good payday too. What exactly is George Groves doing wrong that is winding folk up on here ?! Is he supposed to just meekly accept whatever Eddie and Carl offer ?
I really don't get it !

Re: Groves now contesting the IBF again over the 15% ruling
Also as a comment I think if Froch vs Groves 2 is on it will only be for the IBF title and not the WBA???
Have they had any stance on the matter? As Froch could fight earn big bucks lose but still be a world champion.

he should of taken the offer that he was crying for,,

Groves did box the face of Froch the last time and he took it all and stopped him,,
Groves is losing fans all over the place with his greed,

To those people quick to say Groves has screwed himself here, that he should have signed the original deal Matchroom offered him, i ask this question:
Please list the contract stipulations and options that Matchroom put in their offer to Groves.
Can you? I doubt it.
