Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
Sturm is a class act for making this fight.
I believe he would have given Barker his rematch straight away.
And seeing him give Martin another crack is a good show.
I think he will beat Murray he looked revitalised last time out and knows more this time.
Good fight.

+1 if this is true I thought he would just fight stiffs.TJ77 wrote:Sturm is a class act for making this fight.

I'm going to favour Sturm more this time around though. Murray has been far too active and looked terrible last time out.
Murray has to knock Sturm out to win this ....simple.

Murray is massively overrated IMO. Sturm beat him and he couldn't beat a one legged Martinez

Both still ducking GGG. No change there then.
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
This day and age you don't have to be the best in the world to be world champion. Froch is/was never better than ward etc..
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
Hang on a minute, Froch became a world champion before Ward even challenged for a world title (2008). So should Froch and the rest of the champions in 2008 have just vacated and handed their titles to Ward?rhino222 wrote:This day and age you don't have to be the best in the world to be world champion. Froch became a bona fide world champion at the first time of asking, regardless of whether it was later determined that Ward was the better fight.
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
And none of that means that Froch was ever the best in the world, which seems to be the point.
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
But he was never #1 in the division and never will be.liamlion wrote:Hang on a minute, Froch became a world champion before Ward even challenged for a world title (2008). Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
After calzaghe retired it left a huge question mark of who was number 1 In the division. The super 6 sorted it out. I don't think you can ever claim froch was number in the super mid division
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
yeah but we're not in the '50s anymore, there's several titles now and we all know this. froch has achieved at a high level, in quality fights vs pascal, taylor, dirrell, Abraham, Kessler, Johnson, bute, groves. all in the top ten at super middle or at least former or future belt holders. plus the rivalries, Kessler already done & apparently next groves rematch. winning 3 titles vs world class competition is nothing to scoff at, having all those fierce fights, even if froch is a runner up. some of our most celebrated fighters, such as ken buchanan, were 2nd best to fighters like duran - but they are still celebrated.rhino222 wrote:This day and age you don't have to be the best in the world to be world champion. bringing up calzaghe, yes he definitely was #1, but he didn't go for it 'til something like his 14th and 16th title defences. at least froch has gone fight after fight competing fiercely every time (mack fight excepted).
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
back to murray and sturm, whoever lifts their ordinarily slow, one-pace, could be the one who takes the victory and the title.

Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
What's wrong with not being the number 1 in the divison
Nothing, no shame in that
Why cant somebody just be happy to be one of the 4 main belt holders

Its a way of devaluing a fighters achievements. It works when you have someone who doesn't like a fighter for whatever reason.powderPuff wrote:What's wrong with not being the number 1 in the divison

'Froch ain't never been number one, Ward is better'
Unfortunately for them, being 2nd best in a division behind the 2nd best fighter across the whole sport doesn't make for a bad fighter
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
Nothing for Froch to be ashamed of, he went up against Ward to see who was best in the division and lost. Fair play to him.lillywhite14 wrote:Its a way of devaluing a fighters achievements. Unfortunately there are far too many fighters who are more than happy to be one of the 4 belt holders whilst avoiding unifications and thus depriving boxing of the top match ups. The fact is these days there are a lot less fighters and a lot more belts
Re: Murray vrs Sturm deal done !
Would be happy if this one has been made.
