Rees won but got robbed.
Re: Rees vs Buckland
I thought Rees did enough but it was so close I'm not going to argue, just a brilliant fight!
At least Rees beat Father Time to come up with a fight like that.

Re: Rees vs Buckland
caught the last few rounds, decent scrap
Re: Rees vs Buckland
I thought Rees had taken it, but was close and if he does decide he's had enough you can't blame him he's a true warrior !
Re: Rees vs Buckland
was it great or were they just peppering each other?
was there any conviction in the punches?
might catch up on this one.

A gnats piss. V close and harsh on rees. Great british fight. Great advertisment for boxing.
Re: Rees vs Buckland
I think that may have had something to do with the judges scoring, especially with Rees saying before the fight that he would quit if he lost, I do think it enters the judges thinking that brave warriors never know when to leave it be so maybe we have to help them to make that decision.80/20 wrote:I thought Rees had taken it, but was close and if he does decide he's had enough you can't blame him he's a true warrior !
Buckland can come again but how many more fights like that did Rees have left in him?
The most obvious example of it was when they gave Berbick a decision over Ali to force Ali to retire.

Re: Rees vs Buckland
Well done to both fighters, they really earned their purses last night.
It will be hard to retire for Rees after everyone saying they thought he edged it.
But the little dynamo was fading in spells and is definitely slipping. If he can afford to then he should maybe consider training now alongside Lockett.

I think he has done ok money wise and been smart enough to invest in a couple of businesses ect, I would like to see him retire now if that is the case and enjoy life, he certainly has the experience and skills as a fighter to share as a trainer.G0mez wrote:Well done to both fighters, they really earned their purses last night.

Re: Rees vs Buckland
Great fight between the two but IMO Gavin won that fight by 3-4 rounds
Re: Rees vs Buckland
is buckland going to possibly be a bit outgunned up at lightweight? hard to forget the john murray fight...
anyway gary appears welcome up at lightweight where we obviously have a world champ & where there the majority of outstanding british fights seem to be have been held, in the past couple of years.
is derry Mathews going to be back in that mix? he's been known to come back and spring a surprise, following a defeat...

Re: Rees vs Buckland
I never scored the fight but i thought Rees nicked it but with it being such a close run thing, who knows how my card would have tallied up
Cracking dust up though,i,ll give it another watch
