Jarrod Fletcher...

Post by Travis h. »

Sparred with Jarrod today. Jarrod looked great for the first day of training since I have been down here in Brisbane. His entire camp is awesome and a very accommodating group. Glad a nice guy like Jarrod and his team are getting a crack at a portion of the world middleweight title. I will be blogging about my time down here. I will be here one week and then I am off. Tough strong kid. Sparring again on Saturday and I am sure jarrod is going to be even better. Check back in after that.. late fellows.

Jarrod fighting Max Bursack 29-1-0 in Monte Carlo feb 1. Still a very good fight for Jarrod.

Fletcher wins...decent performance, and didn't fight to his strengths. Which in its own right is impressive, I enjoyed his style, Bursak did himself no favors, by being deducted 2 points.

Well done Fletcher, certainly made the middle division in Australia even more interesting.

Due to over indulging in some of Tooheys finest beverages, I didn't get up at 1am to watch the bout. Did jarrod do enough to put his name out there amongst the elite ? Its a great win for him on a big card. Congrats to him and his team. Hopefully they take another step up in the next bout.

Not really. He scrapped by an unspectacular opponent in a boring fight and never looked world class in my opinion. He's a solid fighter but I'm confident he'll lose as soon as he takes that step up you mention (one can argue that he already did).

I agree with Crusader, he certainly looked good in parts when using the jab, that was about 4 of the 12 rounds. Instead he scrapped away with Bursak, which is obviously his style, however undeniably the winner.

It was a step up, but he needs another, and then another and guess what.....another, then try and get a fight with Soliman, then challenge.

My way of thinking would be to get another international name, rematch Saunders on neutral ground, then fight Soliman.

I told Jarrod and his team after sparring one day that he had to win because every camp I have ever been involved in has won after they were in camp and I was. :-). My record is intact. Great job. Good step up and he deserves a bigger step up and a pay day.

jarrod isnt a big puncher and has a suspect chin and a good rating so he will get a world title shot and good luck to him

I tend to agree JP, chin wise, however he lasted and beat that monster in the LT Heavy division Adonis Stevens for the gold medal at the Comm games. When he uses the Jab, Bursak was miffed.
