GGG v Andy Lee
GGG v Andy Lee
How do people see this fight going?
personally I only see GGG knocking him out early
would be another solid name on GGG Ko list till the other champions fight him,
the only way Andy cold keep him at bay for a while would be to use his reach,
Andy has a fair following in America so id presume it would be on it the New York area.

Is there talk of it actually happening or you just talking about if it did happen?mullenman wrote:How do people see this fight going?

Looks like it could happen in April,,

Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Not a good fight for Lee, that. I like Lee's style as a fighter but he doesnt hit hard enough to keep Golovkin off of him and on top of that, his own chin wont stand up to the power GGG possesses. He'll lose by knockout if it happens. I thought there was talk of him fighting Macklin?! What the hell happened to that.
Re: GGG v Andy Lee
that wont happen this year,,
I think Andy Lee is hoping for a massive payday and that could be GGG in New York on HBO,
Macklin was after Sturm but did not get him so had turned his attentions to Peter "kid Chocolate" Quillin (which wont end well for him either).
it would be a nice double header on HBO and the winners fight each other

Quillin fights on showtime though so that's not gonna happen.mullenman wrote:that wont happen this year,,

that wont happen then but I think Macklin has a good chance of getting the Quillin fight as Macklin has been on American Tv a bit,
not great fights there for GGG with the promoters ruining American boxing

Chavez brutalised him. Golovkin would beat him with ease. Early KO.
Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Nonsense, Lee was winning the fight for most of the part. Also, the ring size was extremely small. A bigger or normal size ring, Lee would have won more rounds.forcefraser wrote:Chavez brutalised him. Golovkin would beat him with ease. Early KO.
On the fight, GGG wins easy.
Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Really like Andy lee, it's going to be a hard hard fight for him, I would be surprised if Adam booth let's it happen next !
Re: GGG v Andy Lee
I'd give lee 3 rounds and he'll be wiped out
Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Andy Lee can entertain and earn himself a living without this fight.
If I was managing him, I'd look for a fight with Macklin etc.
Unless it was a life-changing money offer.

Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Never saw what any of the Andy Lee hype was about, and never noticed he had a "following" in the states, maybe the Irish thing but not for his boxing ability. A demolition from Chavez jnr, a win over a guy who got beat in prizefighter by a novice or was it his win over the man who beat a 48 year old Hector Camacho that the US fans go wild for?.
This fight is a career killer for him

Re: GGG v Andy Lee
We must agree to disagree. Lee was worn down and beaten heavily. Yes, he kept chavez at bay and was outpointing him early on, but the bottom line he was ended up being brutalized by a man who was too strong for him and kept him under constant pressure.brian13 wrote:Nonsense, Lee was winning the fight for most of the part. Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Andy Lee is a tidy boxer and has a lot of guts, he isn't a defensive genius and doesn't have one punch power at world level - a recipe for disaster with Golovkin - who walk straight through him. If Lee gets paid well we may see it; Golovkin seems to be boxing very regularly and is clearing up decent names left and right.
Golovkin looked very solid last weekend (again) and 16 knockouts on the turn when at world level takes some doing - it's not luck.

Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Lee has fought nobodies since the Chavez fight. I only saw him against Fitzgerald on the Frampton v Martinez fight and he looked awful.
Seen him in the past and thought he was half decent though. Can see GGG beating him inside 4-5

He makes money, stays active, and knocks out another opponent on a major network.jtourettes wrote:Pointless fight for GGG.
Geale was offered the fight but publically turned it down.
Re: GGG v Andy Lee
Apparently the short list was Geale, Lee & Kirkland & Kirkland is now the front runner. If somehow Kirkland can start warm it could be interesting but i'd expect GGG to take him out before he got going. Kirkland should try what Katsidis used to do and spar a couple of rounds with a headguard before the ringwalk.
Actually i think Geale would give him problems as he would swarm him and is quicker both those things seem to be the only thing that slows GGG down a little.

Re: GGG v Andy Lee
lee has a very high KO.rate and should not be taken too lightly,GGG might see this as a stepping stone to Martinez who fights in early June for a unification bout.

Lee has never knocked out anyone near world title level and has a very padded record. He's a decent boxer when on song but GGG is all wrong for him (even putting the GGG hype to one side). Lee gets taken apart in 5 at most in a one sided beating.

Lee gets broken any time GGG puts his foot on the gas.
