Depends at what level. There are B licensed refs who do 4-8 rounders, A licensed refs who do 4-12 rounders & A Star refs who do all & title fights.

So what do all these guys get paid then?
Re: How much do boxing refs get paid?
As a pure guess £100 for a standard 4-8 rounder, £150 for a ten rounder, £200 for a title fight, £500 for a euro title fight, £1,000 for a world title fight ! Don't forget they sometimes do 2 or 3 on the same bill and judge the same night to, they get all expenses paid as well obviously !
Re: How much do boxing refs get paid?
and there lies the problem.......the expenses are paid by the promoters. Causes a certain conflict of interest i would suggest. It would not be allowed in any other business. Do Man Utd pay the referee for home games?jessi wrote:As a pure guess £100 for a standard 4-8 rounder, £150 for a ten rounder, £200 for a title fight, £500 for a euro title fight, £1,000 for a world title fight ! Re: How much do boxing refs get paid?
for some reason I was about to say, let's look at what Michael Buffer gets paid and work our way down from that. Then I remembered he's not a ref!

this sounds pathetic for a British title fightjessi wrote:As a pure guess £100 for a standard 4-8 rounder, £150 for a ten rounder, £200 for a title fight, £500 for a euro title fight, £1,000 for a world title fight ! I would like to think there was a bit more importance/ professional judgement/ experience called into play here....given that lives are on the line...i.e. more that what a pat time wedding DJ might charge.
It's a pure guess...

Re: How much do boxing refs get paid?
It's a flat fee including expenses per show not per fight.
The only extra is if you get to judge a title fight in the same show. The cost doesn't reflect the expertise. Most do it to give something back to the sport they love. The incentive to be a ref is not financial & all refs I know have other jobs. The cost doesn't reflect the expertise & time committed to the role.
I do agree that in this day and age the fee should go direct to the board & the ref paid by them not the promoter, althought he promoter has no say in the fee. (It still looks dodgy seeing a promoter handing a ref a brown envelope at the end of a show!).

Thanks for this, I was not aware that the promoter had anything to do with handing money to the ref, that is an absolute joke! No wonder we see so many bad decisions!
Do you know how much they get?

Re: How much do boxing refs get paid?
The promoter has no financial power over the ref. He is directed to pay the flat fee by the board. But I do think it would look more transparent if the board were paid before the show & they sorted payment to the ref.
Re: How much do boxing refs get paid?
I have read stories about promotors (not in the uk) sending top class hookers to the referees hotel rooms the night before fights. lol
Id actually like to get involved with refereeing, that above would just be the icing on the cake. lol

They get sent straight to the Brothel to get Phukked, then they come straight to the ring and Phukk everyone! :-)Alba wrote:What about Scottish , welsh and northern Irish refs?Clint Magnum wrote:English refs don't even get a hotel room fella!!
Unless you can get s bit of double bubble reffing a British/Eliminator title fight AND judging another one it's really not a great deal at all. Bear in mind the Board fee the refs have to pay, then their medicals etc hey end up doing the first one or two shows just to recoup this. I genuinely think it's a thankless job and you need Rhino skin to do it.

What about the years training when they have to travel from venue to venue free of charge not even able to claim expenses....The Insider wrote:They get sent straight to the Brothel to get Phukked, then they come straight to the ring and Phukk everyone! :-)Alba wrote:What about Scottish , welsh and northern Irish refs?Clint Magnum wrote:English refs don't even get a hotel room fella!!

Re: How much do boxing refs get paid?
The board are lucky that people love the sport enough to give up free time to do such a job.
To be honest, i'd do it.
Only thing that would put me off is the gay wee outfits they need to wear

Goes without saying doesn't it. Trialists do get it rough. Suppose it sorts the wheat from the chaff.taffytoon wrote: What about the years training when they have to travel from venue to venue free of charge not even able to claim expenses....

Id have one of they spinning bow tie's instead of the standard one.
Could use it to blow a fighter over on his ar5e if the fight wasn't going the way the promotor wanted.
