Small told me that it wasn't boxing that was the problem, it was the drinking and stuff like that that went on in the arena that was the problem for him

youre talking out of your arse......benefits are far from easy to claim. its becoming like a full time job the amount of hoops youve gotta jump thro these days.

Not sure why he would want to get his licence back when he has denounced boxing several times in his videos. Once redicalised he isnt going to decide he is going to go back to the things prior.

I remember watching him make a prize fool of himself on The Big Questions. It was truly painful watching him try to stutter out his "opinions". An utter embarrassment. Thick as two short planks.

Maybe the problem is that he wasn't very well educated, either by the schools, or didn't learn much at home. Maybe if he had have had these things, it would be more difficult for people to plant these sorts of ideas into his head. I say maybe, because I am not privvy to the lad's upbringing. I think a lot of things in life are pre-programmed to happen personally, by how/ where/ who with, you come up, and there ain't a whole lot you can do to alter some circumstances.

All I remember is something about Poppy day (can't remember what though) and him expressing his opinion about British Govt and troops being authorised and sent into the Muslim countries where, invariably more damage (and killing) is done.

.....then what I recall is people going apesh*t and threatening to kill him etc....

Making a comeback? Well, the guy could certaining bang and had some decent handspeed. Not sure he would ever be given the chance here, though.

Well, its all about opinions. I wouldn't condone killing or forceful intervention in any type of War. Then again, there are those who think its ok to go and bomb the fck out of Iraq, Afghanistand and Pakistan (killing 1000's of innocent civilians, which nevers get reported) in the name of democracy (not saying that is you by the way).

As I said, its all about opinions and how you feel about it.

To be fair his opinions (or those that have been programmed into him) go a bit further than criticising the UK Govt for the wars they've led us into.

And disrespecting Poppy Day (to put it mildly) certainly goes a lot further than exercising a right to protest.

But I agree he was a good fighter, always worth watching. I remember him entering the ring in a full business suit once. Quite the showman.

Firstly he can't bang, he's a very average puncher and I sparred tens of rounds with th useless prick. Secondly questioning involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan is perfectly reasonable, but what is not is his insistence on turning everywhere into a backward sharia state and deliberately being provocative and offensive.
Thirdly he is not especially 'uneducated' he is genuinely a fairly low intelligence guy that wishes he could talk smack like Chis Rock

There is no way any promoter will touch him.... sadly I do have the feeling he will be in the news in the next few years.

Talented fighter though.

Well, I haven't sparred with him but he appeared a solid hitter with good handspeed and he threw pretty fast combo's when the mood took him. Fair enough if you disagree. As for the rest, not point derailing this thread anymore. Another discussion for another time but I can accept fault here. My fault for moving it this way :TU:

There is an interesting point somewhere in here that the Poppy has moved from the memorial to those killed in the Great wars, to a glorification of our 'heroes' at the front in modern day combat

It is interesting and it is wrong; it goes from remembering those long dead to absolving Governments and the fighting forces for their foreign adventures; it tries to make any questioning disrespectful.

Interesting points......I always thought it was to honour the War dead (WW1 and 2) and to raise money to assist ex-servicemen, who seemingly don't get much help from the Govt.

You're right in a way tho....you don't question the Poppy appeal or you'd be frowned upon to say the least. Never looked at it that way before....

I think it should be remembered that intelligence takes various forms. He was "intelligent" enough to figure out and stop Hall, Aaron, that Contender guy and a few others. Blimey, I'd forgotten he was Brit Champ.
But I'd agree, less intelligent in some other ways.
