fielding vs smith??

Post by rio »

Is it me or would 99.99% (with hearn being the .1% ) prefer to see fielding v smith and dodson v webb rather than the way it is now? This is crap match making. Everyone knows fielding with beat dodson and smith will beat webb. Why isnt hearn making this fight? Its a genuine 50/50 fight unlike how it is now. No excuse that it could not be made as they are both fighting on the same bill. Hearn insists he makes the fights the fans want to see, this contradicts that and so does the recently announced quigg fight

said the same on another thread re smith/fielding, I thought by putting them both in walovers on the same bill could be building the fight for the future but Smith keeps telling people this is his last fight at domestic level.

More likely

Smith moves on to countless 'international' titles then possible eliminators and Fielding v Callum Smith could become an option?

It's been made to gift Paul Smith the Londsdale outright so he can then vacate and Callum Smith & Fielding can fight for the vacant belt at another show.

Eddie knows what he's doing and it's not for the fans.

Its a joke this fight is not headliner it's a genuine main event for that show not like the others fights

I just can't see Callum Smith fighting Fielding soon though it could be purse bids be interesting to see what happens with that

I think it will be more of a case of Fielding not wanting anything to do with Smith!

Two rubbish fights, Webb doesn't deserve a British title shot and Dodson needs to beat someone like Webb to have any claim on a Commonwealth title tilt!

The annoying thing is they are all on the same bloody show! There is no promotional/TV barrier stopping Fielding v Smith being made. Shite like this does not constitute a 'stacked' card!!!!!!

Does that mean he is going to retire after this fight then ?

For someone who has quite happily spent the last 10 years fighting domestic journeymen he sure does have delusions of grandeur (I wonder if he bumped into that Tony Robins feller in a lift like the bloke on Shallow Hall ?).

He stepped up to fight Groves and Degale and look what happened there - as a result he is not the best in Britain (probably not the best in his own house !) so all this talk about higher titles is getting a bit embarrassing.

Smith has to prove he's European level before I have any intrest in him fighting for a world crown.
Dodson had came down from light heavy & is area level imo & they were two hard fights. Quigley was a fat middleweight who I felt bossed the fight & degale & groves both beat him handily & they wasn't world class at that time & are both now up at that level & it's no walk in the park for them!!!

Rocky fielding is a joke!! He don't want to fight but after his last very impressive performance I think Paul smith is happy not to face him & has since been complimenting him after saying he needs to take challenges etc.

Eddy Hearn needs to start facing fighters off sighn them up short term & let them go if they ain't ambitious & turning down dates

On the subject of Paul Smith moving on to bigger things look at the WBO top 10 below. Stieglitz is defending against Abraham no 1 next. Chavez will only fight for the WBC title and Degale is going the WBC route too.

How Smith deserved no4 in this list is crazy don't be suprised if Eddie gets him a final eliminator in the summer.

CHAMPION

ROBERT STIEGLITZ

1

Arthur Abraham (Int-Cont)

2

James DeGale

3

Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.

4

Paul Smith

5

Mikkel Kessler

6

Anthony Dirrell

7

George Groves

8

Balazs Kelemen

9

Thomas Oosthuizen

He wouldn't beat his brother - I know that would never happen, but even so he would never beat either Groves or Degale either - or Rocky Fielding for that matter ( I wasn't sure before, but after his win over Blackledge ....).

So ... disregarding the fact that he isn't the best in his house, he isn't the best in Liverpool never mind Great Britain so I do not understand any talk of Euorpean or World titles.

Can somebody help me out here - am I missing something ?

he seems to have hit his level but since the wbo have (bafflingly) decided to rank him so high why shouldnt he have a crack at it? he wouldnt be the worst title challenger ever. even if you wouldnt give him a chance against either stigliez or abraham would you begrudge him a decent payday in germany?

I think it was Columbo that provided the straw that broke his back though there were a few who would question him and he didn't like to be questioned. Stephen used to post as well and was good, more laid back and seemed to take things in his stride a bit more.

:OhYes: don't be so coy; he named you as someone he'd like to meet in a dark alley; you were less than reverential so he got the royal hump and flounced off to twitter.
