I enjoyed James Toney and Danny Green. Toney seemed to be able to land flush at will, but Danny was a bit fitter. It's good up close footage of some hard sparring.

Indeed, Valero/Morales was an interesting one to watch. I'm pretty sure that was near the beginning of Valero's pro career.

Hearns sparring Ali is a sad state of affairs.

Benn vs Duran is a good watch.

Paul Ryan and Del Bryan is well worth a watch.

The James Toney and McClellan is sheer class - Toney was a very gifted boxer.

(There is a documentary about Wilfredo Gomez called Bazooka that is on youtube - it has training segments including sparring and is an excellent way to spend 45 mins of lazy time).

Mayweather was unfit for that spar, was knackered, he spoke about it, it changed him, never let it happen to him again, always kept himself in shape and near weight afterwards.

He beat the crap out of Morales if memory serves me correct! He also had Urbano Antillon on absolute queer street http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvr2q_6zvKg

Valero also put quite a bad beating on De La Hoya prior to the latter's fight with Pacquaio if rumours are to believed. So much so that he got told to leave the camp in the end.

I've got a DVD full of sparring somewhere from years back.

Benn/Duran

Chavez and a very young DLH. Also Mosley. I think it also has some Genero Hernandez too but can't remember who against.

Got Hearns/McClellan but it's only an exhibition. I think it's since surfaced on youtube, along with Hearns/McCallum and Hearns/Klemetsen.

Duran was just playing about with Benn, he was not even in shape, was it made around the time Benn was offered a few mill to fight Leonard ?

Benn sparred Duran in July 1988 and said he held back as much as he could out of respect because he didn't want to KO a legend in the gym. Duran couldn't believe Nigel only turned pro the year before, he was amazed and said Benn was the future!

Benn could never knock out Duran, different level, Hagler could not do it, held back ? Don't think so, more like Duran was unfit and over weight, Benn was knocked out by Watson around that time. When Leonard fought Duran, he said Duran hurt him to the body and that nobody hurts him to the body, he also said every punch hurt, Benn was a vicious fighter but he lost a lot of his major fights, Watson, Eubank, Collins, his title to malinga and he would of lost to Mcclellan but for a long count when he was knocked out of the ring and a referee helping him, not to mention Mcclellan's brain injury, he was more remembered for fights lost then won, he also had stamina problems and his chin was not the best, plus he used to load up too much, I am being honest even if I did support Benn for his aggression the entertainment value he brought.

The one I'd like to see is the 14 year old Tony Ayala sparring welter champ Pipino Cuevas - he gives Cuevas a beating apparently.

I wonder how Valero would be getting on these days if he hadnt killed himself?

When he was fighting i never had a computer and never read BM so just seen his name pop up on Sporting Life from time to time when you used to get it on Teletext

Ive obvously since seen him on youtube but he was never on TV on these shores if memory serves me

Interesting fella none the less and everyone loves a puncher
