I hope not, watching Simpson at lightweight in his last fight didn't look right. Simpson needs to be fighting at no higher than Super Feather imo.

I wud b surprised if this fight is made. Heard a few rumbles that crolla v gethin in manchester for british in april so wud b 2 tough fights in the space of about 5 weeks for crolla. I'd like to see simpson back down at feather. Him v warrington or walsh wud b good.

Billy Nelson has been saying repeatedly on here that Simpson is gonna be in a big fight soon so it wouldnt surprise me.

Id rather see him at super feather also but credit to Simpson as always. He would probably go in with Tyson Fury. Lol

Maybe Billy will come on and clear this up.. The fight with Crolla is seemingly agreed. It seems to me that Hearn is trying to throw these Scottish fighters to the wolves.. Appleby with Cardle and now Simpson with Crolla.. A far better fight for Simpson would if been Ronnie Clark. He tweeted Eddie Hearn saying he would fight Simpson or Roberts Jnr and Eddie just ignored him. Dave Coldwell also offered Maxi Hughes to fight Simpson which again would be a better fight.. Billy said a huge a fight Crolla v Simpson is not a huge fight. For all Eddie's bravado of making boxing better it seems he talking out his arse..

Simpson said a few weeks ago on twitter he was moving back down in weight, now last night he said Eddie has him a fight a lightweight. Looking likely that its Crolla as chief support. I like Simpson but I actually prefer him down at featherweight. If he can still make feather that's where he should be. All the best to him as he's been one of the best to watch for years but lightweight is too big for him.

I thought Crolla was supposed to be aiming for Ricky Burns and is a world level fighter now?! A bit of a joke really.

Ronnie Clarke and John Simpson are at different stages of their careers. As much as i respect Ronnie's willingness to fight anyone, i think he would be a backward step for Simpson. How many fights do you think Simpson has left in him? It all comes down to money and I can confidently guess that there would be a lot more on the table for a fights against names like Crolla (and similar level) than what would be made available for him to fight Ronnie.

As i said, i think Ronnie's willingness to fight everyone and anyone is admirable but it's not quite as simple as 'we sent eddie hearn a tweet' etc etc. We all know Simpson would also fight anyone anywhere but like anyone else he needs to make money, greater money will quite often lie in the same place as greater danger!

Agreed that John Deserves more but Crolla is about the same level as Ronnie in different divisions that's all.. Crolla also been beat at British Level. Ronnie is ready for Simpson and after watching the Coyle fight I think Ronnie would be too big and hit too hard for John irrespective of where they are in their careers. I think for Scottish fight fans this would be a bigger fight and a fairer fight for John. It would also make for a cracking fight as they both would go for each other. Neither likes to go backwards..

I have said many times I'm a massive John Simpson fan and in some ways I don't want him to fight Ronnie as I would like to see them both to do well and I also think John would be better at feather or super bantam. I would prefer Michael Roberts v Ronnie Clark(no e ha). I think the matchmaking if this is true about Simpson v Crolla is shocking. It's not a big fight and I'm sure not many would be too interested in it.

Ronnie isnt at the same level as Crolla. Not saying he wont get to that level but be realistic. Crolla has held the British, been in with Matthews, Rees, Sykes, Limond, Farrel, Foster. Thats a good list of fighters.

Anyway, I will be very surprised if Simpson and Crolla fight.

He also has 4 defeats on that record 2 against Sykes, Mathews and Al hamidi.. Crolla has faced better opponents I'm not denying that but both are looking to get a British title at their respected weights.. Crolla could be fighting Coyle in Hull rather than Simpson in Glasgow.. I'm quite positive Al Hamidi and Abdul Rashid 2 fighters who have been in with both would say that Ronnie was better.. My point is Crolla has had a reputation built from losing and drawing with Derry Mathews. He got a bit of Sky exposure which people now think he is better than he is.

End of the day styles make fights.. Crolla will outbox Simpson and be the much bigger man. Keep moving and win a wide points unless John can catch him.. If Simpson fought Ronnie it would be toe to toes and the best chin would win. Fans prefer fights like that. But I'm guessing John will be getting good money to basically lose..

He beat Rees. His best win by far.

Looking at the amount of losses on a record is quite a naive way to measure ability!

Simpson is the perect example of that.

I thought Rees won that fight.. Rees fought very poorly that night as well. It's not just looking at his defeats it's looking at his wins. He has not been as good as the hype around him.. But agreed his best win is a questionable win against a poor Rees :)

U need to look at the different levels they been mixing it in. Crolla has fought rees matthews skyes foster limond watson. Who's ronnie been in with maxi and walsh (drew) then ronnie best win douig curren. Stupart al hamdi. Not saying he can't go on to had a great career but at present u can't compare him to crolla and levels

Lost twice to Sykes.. Once to Mathews and a lot of people also think he lost to Mathews and Rees.. He beat a weight drained Limond and Foster with about a weeks notice.. He also lost to Al Hamidi who Ronnie beat.. In comparison to levels yes I agree in terms of who the have fought Crolla is higher level but he's lost most in my eyes.. Again he's not the best in Britain at lightweight the same as Ronnie isn't at Super Feather.. It's different weight divisions and the lightweight division is stronger. If he was to fight Murray, Coyle, Mitchell, Rees , Buckland and Flannigan I would expect him too loose there isn't as many Super Feathers in the UK that you would expect to beat Ronnie.. That's my comparison how they are at their respective weights. Simpson should be no where near lightweight.

Ive never seen ronnie fight just look at his record. Wen he has steped up a level he hasn't won. But imo a draw as an away fighter is like a win. Crolla as boxed the best in britain won and lost and fought regular at championship level he is also been made mandatory for british title due to his recent wins.. Ronnie is an up and coming fighter progressing well. His been put in a eliminator with kays (winnable) then their is a chance of a final eliminator with troy james (also winnable) but until he does get the wins of note he can't b at the compared level of crolla at lightweight.

I agree crolla has boxed at a higher level for what is worth but the lightweight scene in UK is booming with great fighters and had massive exposure with a prizefighter that most entered and best to date. I think he got beat from Rees and hes nowhere near best in UK at lightweight and is so undeserving a world title shot its unreal. I like the Gallagher camp but think Crolla as a person and the image he has created has helped get himself in this kind of contention. He was destroyed from Matthews and has a good few defeats. I understand the angle david is coming from regarding hes number 3 in UK and looking to win a British title as is Ronnie at superfeather. When he fought Limond , Limind was weight drained and struggled. Nothing else. Iv heard its a dead set for Crolla v Simpson which may be castipulting Simpson to make some money as a journeyman as hes said on twitter hell fight anyone. Love Simpson and genuinly is one of my favourite boxers but a bit dissapointed with this match making.
