This fight had to be Gomez' greatest moment. At the age of 22, he took on Zarate (52-0, 51 KO). I just saw this fight for the first time. Gomez was calm and patient as he just used the ring and allowed Zarate to move forward. He wasn't dominating the fight, he just wasn't allowing Zarate to land anything at all. Then he landed a textbook left hook over Zarate's lazy straight right and the fight was effectively over right there. Zarate got up, but he never recovered and was stopped in the 5th.
I've seen Gomez-Pintor and Gomez-Sanchez as well. What are some other Gomez fights worth seeing?
Wilfredo Gomez-Carlos Zarate
