Wow, that's new to me. What had Jacobs allegedly done to deserve that sort of treatment ? As I recall, Gary was a Mickey Duff fighter for most of his career ?

He left Morrison to go to London to sign for Duff. Morrison asked Arthur Thompson to end his career. Ferris, who worked for Thompson at the time, refused. Morrison and Thompson were very close.

Ricky Burns is a boxer who is living his dream. I've watched his career since he was a 14 year old fighting out of the Barn and anyone who has ever spoken about him as a person has always done so in positive terms. There is no way that letter is from him.

It's sad when a nice guy and the boxer who makes money from those around him is treated like this. For this to happen in the build up to his biggest fight is just petty and desperate and makes me sick of the business that is Boxing.

Contracts, legal wrangles and emails mean nothing to the fighter who just loves the SPORT!

Talking of Morrisons rumoured gangland connections, isnt FW supposed to be good friends or an associate of the Adams family? They're seriously heavy hitters.

I doubt many who follow the sport will think it's from Ricky, but it could be very bad for him if this story was to get bigger because people who don't know much about have no reason to assume it isn't him.

Thanks Mickey, just been googling, there is some fascinating stuff about him.

I also saw that a lot of this stuff thrown at Morrison today cropped up last summer - it was reported in the Scottish press that Morrison had racist comments on his Facebook page. Some of this stuff has been repeated by Fwank.

It's been rumoured. I guess they are from the same era and area so undoubtedly have mutual friends at the least. Morrison and Thompsons friendship is a fact. It wasn't a secret.

Both men are gonna have powerful connections I reckon. I dont think anything physical will occur with all this. Both know that it's not worth the risk i'd imagine.

Whilst it is a fast developing saga, unless he clears his name, sports editors may run with it later in the month, days before his defence. It is more relevant then.

Back in the 1980's, Lloyd Honeyghan had several kids to several different women. A few of them tried to sell "kiss and tell" stories to the tabloids, who weren't really interested. After Lloyd shocked the world by dethroning Curry, it was front page of the Sun a few days later, and was presented as being "news" when in fact the tales had done the rounds for ages. The only thing new was that Lloyd was suddenly a somebody.

It would be funny if somebody burst a balloon right behind Fwank at tomorrow's Copperbox show though

I mentioned The A-team earlier. Allegedly was involved in some property dealings with them back in the day, think it was club or a restaurant or something. They are from the same area. Old allegedlys uncle is a bloke called Bobby Warren. Bit of a face back in his day.

Rumour has it, again, big bad rumours lol, when Calzaghe fell out with Allegedly he was courting a certain Mr H from the East, who again, is rumoured not to be massively friendly with The A-Team.

Got to love the rumour mill bollocks ain't ya!?

Sorry mate. Didnt notice your earlier post! Interesting stuff though! I imagine that most significant figures in the boxing world have some shady powerful connections though. I cant imagine that you'd last long at the top without them. I imagine that old Bazza Hearn knows some naughty people aswell!

I've often wondered if the guy who shot a boxing promoter in London is somewhere at the bottom of the Thames.

It's funny you say that. I remember seeing an interview with the same person you're talking about and he said that he knew who had shot him and that his life hasnt been good since. Sounds pretty ominous.

I highly doubt the man tried for the shooting was the shooter. There was no evidence at all, just the possibility of a motive and he was ex-army and a former Royal Marine, if he was holding the gun, the charge would most likely have been murder, not attempted murder, little chance a man with that sort of training, firing 2 shots at close range, wouldn't get the job done.

In all fairness, I would not necessarily hold that against him. The shooter shouldn't have done it, and he certainly shouldn't have failed to kill him. I think in that line of work, if the victim survives, its time to move several thousand miles to a new home. If this chappie did indeed meet a grizzly end, who knows perhaps it saved a few other folk's lives in the long run.

The two parties were engaged in a libel battle at the time. You can't charge a man with murder if the victim didn't die though. If he survives, the charge is attempted murder.

I think he meant he would have died if the alleged shooter had carried out the shooting.

Yep, a Royal Marine, with a loaded gun against an unarmed man at close range isn't going to fail unless they only wanted to seriously injured him, which is unlikely.

I was just being a sarcastic idiot I'm afraid

He has a point, the alleged shooter had the skills to do a better job of it. Thank god it wasn't him or we'd never have seen Herbie Hide vs Damon Reed
