We can joke (although I will actually double check) but there's one or two folk involved in the substantive matter behind this thread who might genuinely be looking over their shoulder. Somebody, somewhere, has uttered the immortal words, "well, if its a war they're after...."

You'd think they could make a better job of it than that.
Just playing Devils Advocate here. How many times did Fr&nk allegedly promote Ricky Burns? How many pieces of documentation will Fr&nk allegedly hold with Rickys signature on i.e. contracts etc....? Frank will know exactly what Ricky's signature looks like. If Frank is as calculated as we assume, he's already compared them. What if Ricky did sign the letter? He could have signed it at a time his hand was injured, meaning his signature was a little off. Alternatively signing a boxing glove with a permanent marker is different from signing paper with a pen. Personally I don't think Ricky produced or signed such a venomous letter however how can anyone say at this time it's a "100% forgery"? There is only one person who knows for sure and that's Ricky Burns. He doesn't need this before the biggest fight of his career however this might turn out to be more compelling than anything he's done in the ring.

He was promoted by allegedly for most of his career, but Alex Morrison's managed him the entire time as well. I don't know of any hand injuries that Ricky's had and the letter doesn't state a year, but it was in July and obviously after he won the world title, so it was either 2011, 2012 or 2013. 2011 was the week of the Cook fight, 2012 was 2 months out from the Mitchell fight and 4 months after his last fight and 2013 was 2 months out from the Beltran fight, so there's little chance of a hand injury. The signatures can be different between the glove and paper, but the signature on the glove doesn't have a line drawn under it, whereas the one on the letter does and the y is thin, long and slanted on the glove, but on the letter it looks like an old school way of writing a y as part of a word. All the letters are similar to the y on the glove, long, thin and slanted, all to the right, but on the letter none look like that. When you look more closely at the signatures, they're night and day. The one on the letter looks very old school, all my grandparents write in similar ways to that, not the way a 30 year old man would sign his name. To the untrained eye, based on what I've seen of other peoples writing, the signature on the letter looks like it's been written by someone much older than Ricky Burns, possibly a woman, but a calligraphist would be able to tell far more from it than I ever will. And Ricky himself has said it's a forgery, that's good enough for me.

I always knew this was going to happen, I just think people just to conclusions and automatically presume, best wait till the truth is revealed, my opinion? I dont believe Ricky would do such a thing? Do i know him well enough outside the ring to know his beliefs? No? maybe he felt it was a personnel email and it wouldnt be leaked? maybe its forged who knows? The people who are campaigning for Ricky to be paid etc and the newspapers articles are not helping the situation as its now being dealt with by the board so let the people do their job instead of inciting an argument between both party's with this sort of stuff coming out? One thing I really do hope that if their is people in Morrison's offices etc or if Ricky is to blame then the big man is not gonna be the fall guy nor do I wish that any of this rubbish gets physical between anyone but money is a dangerous thing.

It may well have been. It's a messy affair which will no doubt rock Ricky's confidence in his manager and will undoubtedly lead to a split between him and his manager. In terms of his own court case with allegedly can he afford a split with Morrsion who will inevitably be a key player in proceedings?

If anything this whole fiasco shows you should not cross Fr&nk allegedly. Not only is Morrison going to be ruined financially but his reputation will be in tatters too. In a sadistic way I kind of respect allegedly for not only fighting his corner but striking a killer blow to his opponent. Sadly for Ricky, he's caught in the cross fire. This does not bode well for him in terms of allegedly Vs. Burns.

Divide and conquer.

Good observations.

In terms of the boxing glove autograph, he could have been sitting for an hour or so signing hundreds of pairs whizzing through his signature hoping the session would come to a quick end. The signature on the letter could be his Sunday best?

Finally something we agree on!

Galloway is a great man, you just have to see his performance at the American Congress to prove that, but he's back the wrong horse here.

What a time for this to come out, two weeks before the biggest fight of Burns career. It goes to show Warren is a cunning motherfu****, cross him at your peril.

I'm absolutely certain Ricky new nothing about that letter, there is no way he would have been bumb enough to put his name to such a racist piece of drivel. Morrison on the other hand, he never seemed the sharpest, these could be his views, but i still question he could be stupid enough to play this trick.

Is it possible the letter could possibly have been fabricated by an employee with a grudge against Morrison, or just a dumb, bigoted fool having a laugh thinking nobody would notice? Glasgow is full of bigots, the god save the queen jibe is typical of the hard core protestant fraction, there is no way Burns wrote those words.

Ricky has always shown to be strong minded, hopefully he will brush this off and it wont have any effect on him preparing for, and during the fight.

One thing that is lost on me a bit is the apparent reverence, or perception of, regarding Morrison. To me, an armchair fan, he's a long time minor manager promoter in the British boxing scene. He occasionally has a British champ but - Ricky aside - that's about it. The way Fwank talks about him, you'd think it was Don Corleone or something.
I think Morrison has always been associated with gangland Glasgow. His name pops up a lot in Arthur Thompsons story and Paul Ferris has all but named him a few times for asking him to slash Gary Jacobs.
It's a haggis turf war.

Someone will have a deep-fried Bounty on their head over this !

The handwriting does look like that of someone of his age and the tone of the letter does seem to reflect some of his views. Like ALI said, God Save The Queen and the rest of the views in that letter are far more likely to come from the Protestant/Rangers half of Glasgow, rather than the Catholic half of the city, especially from someone as mild mannered as Ricky Burns.

He's never expressed any sort of political belief, racist views and I'm pretty sure he'd know how to spell repulsive, or at least use spell check. I don't think he's ever criticised anyone publically, even when leaving Warren, or slagged off an opponent. And while he doesn't seem to be massively into football, God Save The Queen isn't likely to be thrown about like that by a Celtic fan.
The letter is shocking generally - I'd imagine whoever wrote it was either under the age of 12 and/or pissed. I presume they were meaning Baroness Warsi as well
