if hes punching a bit harder, do you think he will ko crawford or get a knockdown?billy nelson wrote:Yes he's 100% fit and punching a bit harder as well, really looking forward to this big fightAden wrote:Billy, is his jaw fully healed?
I dont think Crawford has been down in his career yet, so if burns could get a early ko it would certainly break Crawfords spirit ... anyway good luck to you both, looking forward to it.

Crawford might not have been down, but he hasn't really been tested yet and going the distance with Prescott doesn't say much, he can punch but aside from exposing Khan's chin, he hasn't stopped anyone else of note and his punches are easy enough to avoid. Terence Crawford has a lot of questions to answer in this fight, who knows what will happen when he hits Burns with the best he's got and finds him still stood in front of him landing big punches of his own, Gonzalez couldn't take it and he was probably a bigger puncher than Crawford.Alba wrote:if hes punching a bit harder, do you think he will ko crawford or get a knockdown?billy nelson wrote:Yes he's 100% fit and punching a bit harder as well, really looking forward to this big fightAden wrote:Billy, is his jaw fully healed?

Im not entirely convinced that Crawford is an all round more talented fighter than Gonzales. I think Gonzales would of been a great sparring partner for this fight aswell. Both switch stance very comfortably, both like to counter punch and both have good power.expe wrote:Crawford might not have been down, but he hasn't really been tested yet and going the distance with Prescott doesn't say much, he can punch but aside from exposing Khan's chin, he hasn't stopped anyone else of note and his punches are easy enough to avoid. Crawford looks to be an absolute mirror image of Gonzalez, so that experience will stand him in good stead, he won't make the same mistakes again and regardless of the performance, he beat Gonzalez and walked through hell to do so. Crawford will have to outbox him to win it, because he isn't going to beat him in the trenches, it would take a incredibly tough man to stand toe to toe with Ricky Burns, the heart he has is unbelievable. If he gets his jab going early, he wins the fight, counter punchers like Crawford struggle with combinations and everything works off the jab for Ricky, if he finds the range, everything else will follow.columbo wrote:Im not entirely convinced that Crawford is an all round more talented fighter than Gonzales. If Burns gets by Crawford legitimately it will be his most impressive W, and vice versa, imo.columbo wrote:Im not entirely convinced that Crawford is an all round more talented fighter than Gonzales. Kudos to both for making this fight, especially Crawford.

Crawford is basically the mirror image of Kevin Mitchell. I don't see the comparison with Gonzales.. Gonzales had freaky long arms and was a excellent counter puncher with very good movement.. As for all this stuff going on. If anything it should fire Ricky on. He will be fighting for his life in this fight and for his families future. I think all this pressure will bring out the best in Ricky. If he sticks to his game pal I'm sure he will win
Re: If Burns loses to Crawford, will it be blamed on the.....
Crawford is the same height and has the same reach as Gonzalez, both are switch hitters and counter punch on the back foot by leaning out of the way of punches, the only similarity to Mitchell is the way Crawford delivers the punches, but in terms of style, he's much closer to Gonzalez than Mitchell.daviddee wrote:Crawford is basically the mirror image of Kevin Mitchell. Don't believe everything you read on Boxrec about reach and size.. Watching Crawfords fight his reach is not like Gonzales.. He moves like Mitchell and throws punches like Mitchell.. Open to similar punches as well.. Ricky throws a right straight down the middle followed by a body shot which Crawford should walk onto. He looks poor when he switches very vulnerable.

The judge that voted (I think) 115-112 for Burns last fight was a New Yorker, Carlos Ortiz Jr. Is he related to the great fighter?chad wrote:I'm sure I read that Bob Arum was campaigning for completely neutral judges and referee for this fight after his previous fighter was robbed.palooka wrote:I understand what you are saying SNG and doesn't the boxer employ the trainer, manager etc? Though I reckon Burns would need to do a part time course in lion taming to have a chance of shutting Billys gob if the decision goes the 'wrong way' (I wonder what odds Beltran would give for that to happen?)
If so, does being Puerto Rican count as being not completely neutral when a Mexican is involved
But I'm not sure what completely neutral means?
