Could David Price improve like Wladimir Klitschko has?

I was thinking this earlier, the way Price got taken out by Thompson. I know those were embarrassing losses, but I couldnt' help but think that if that Tony Thompson had faced the Wladimir that lost to Ross Purrity, perhaps he could've suffered the same fate.

So my question is. Do you all you think if Price adopted a more defensively responsible style could he still possibly rise to a high level of prominence in the Heavyweight division?

Unsure, Wlads a better boxer/more natural athlete

Too many things to improve. Wlad's stamina wasn't great but Prices's stamina looks non existent

Wlad's chin is also nowhere near as bad as Price's. Price's lack of ability to take a shot, makes Wlad's chin look as impervious as a nuclear bunker.

Unless he is able to develop a style where he doesn't get hit at all, I just don't see how he can really go anywhere.

As said before, Wlad is also a better natural athlete. Wlad was smashing people to bits for quite a long time before his first loss. Price got found out far earlier in his career.

He's 31 in a couple of months times and basically you're advising him to start completely from scratch?

He doesn't have the time or the tools.

His comeback fight was against a guy not even ranked by boxrec in the world's top 500

I honestly think we have seen the best of David Price already, sadly.

Price can improve; yes - despite his age. To the extent Wladimir did? Highly unlikely. Wladimir turned pro aged 20 and by 27 was already a WBO world champion with multiple defences and 41 fights under his belt. At age 27 he brought in Manny Steward (R.I.P) and implemented the safety first style we see today.

Once he's gone there every chance Price could pick up a belt. Price will always be able to punch; this will mean he's always got a shot.

When you fall apart when hit then boxing clearly isn't for you. Price is certainly good for crushing heads, but not engaging in even, two-way contests. I don't think there's anything you can do with him, sadly.

Up until the first of the Thompson fights, I thought Price was a shoe-in for a heavyweight title. But now, I'm not so sure. If Price had won the rematch convincingly, I'd have thought; "Okay. The first fight was a fluke." But it wasn't.

It's sad because Price is a nice guy. If you look at British heavyweights, the majority are total bellends. Sadly, the one who comes across as a nice guy, just doesn't have it at world level.

Price could have some success if he goes back down and is used as a tester for British heavies who are hoping to move up. In fact, Fury vs Price or Chisora vs Price is more interesting to me than Fury vs Chisora.

I just don't see Price fighting Klitschko. And if he did, he wouldn't win.

I was hoping the Sauerland's would find a way to work with Booth - who I thought would have been very good for David and would have broken down his game and then developed an effective style - but that's not happening and I think they've hired Tommy Brooks who I don't think has been working with top-level operators for a while.

Hope David and Brooks prove me wrong, but I just have this suspicion that's he left it too late and that the kind of radical overhaul of his style and training (which would have involved a risk as well) that Booth would have delivered is not going to happen.

If your chin is your weakness, then you need to protect it as much as possible. David needs to adapt his style.

Nope. Two different beasts really. All they have in common is they are tall, seem to be a bit "chinny" although Wlad hasn't been down in over a decade and been world champ for most of that time, and can bang.

Wlad naturally moves better, is faster, is stronger etc

Anyone think Price would be well served adding a bit of size/bulk to his frame?
