Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
I know a few people commented on this in the round by round thread last night, I didn't take part in that, and I've been thinking about this today, having watched the whole copperbox show last night.
When Fury/Chisora 2 was first talked up a few weeks ago, I thought it would be a massive fight. After last night, I have my doubts. I appreciate the promoter will apply his magic touch, and that the fighters will hype it up, but after their respective performances I am not sure its that big a deal really. Neither of these guys is a world champ in waiting (and I am big fans of them both) and there were a lot of empty seats last night. The crowd seemed half asleep during the chisora fight.
Bunce said something a week or so back about Fury / Chisora 2 being as big or bigger than Froch / Groves 2. After last night's show I think that is like comparing the league cup final with the world cup final.
Plus, it seems chisora wants to face Povetkin anyway !

Fury is gonna beat the piddle an wind out of Chisora and easier than last time ...cant see where its a big fight ,since the first loss to Fury chisora has more miles on the clock and has even been brutally KOed ,regardless of the shape fury was in last night he's the one thats improved and in shape an on point will beat Chisora with relative ease in my opinion

I,ll say it.....I cant be arsed getting up for Fury/Chisora 2,the first fight was nothing to write home about and they both should be fighting for World title now or at least an Eliminator(which incidently Fury has already fought or turned down about 5 by now) but i suspect the rematch will be better as both have improved, especially Del Boy and Tyson has become more erratic(if thats possible)
,so it will be good to watch but as far as getting "up" for it :??
Im pissed![[icon_knockout.gif] :KO:](./images/smilies/icon_knockout.gif)

I think we all have to ask ourselves who Fury vs Chisora 2 is aimed at. In my view, if you're already a subscriber to BN and/or a boxing anorak, it isn't you.
Fury pulled in anywhere from one to two million viewers on C5, most of them casuals, and BN are hoping that over the next few months he is able to bring a good number of them over to their channel as new subscribers. Of those, if 50 thousand or so either decide not to, or forget to, cancel their subscription, BN'll move into profit.

It won't happen, last night Fury was very negative about Chisora's performance, hardly building up the fight and Chisora said he wanted to fight Povetkin, I can't see Fury v Chisora happening, Povetkin is a bigger fight for Chisora, then Fury on the world scene, Fury could end up in limbo.

If your a boxer with ambitions you want to
1-create a legacy by winning a world title
2-make money by winning a world title
I respect anyone who steps into the ring but i have more for the fighters that fall into the no1 catagory,i respect boxers who want to secure their financial future too but i hate fighters who bullpoo fans by avoiding on the pretence to be following a more secure route to a title(ie,mandatory with no add on,s) but when the time arrives pull out for a more lucaritve offer
Fury,Brook and the like
Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
Tyson had a rough year in 2013 in terms of income and ring time. Frank has offered him a good three fight package that will net him more than he was ever likely to get elsewhere, other than Haye, in the short term. He accepted that he wasn't going to get a title shot before autumn at the very earliest and so agreed to the best money option on the table.
Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
For this fight to be big, Tyson Fury needs to bad mouth Dereck Chisora in a press conference, Dereck needs to get off his seat and come face to face with Tyson, punches need to be thrown before Dereck claims that Tyson glassed him.
If that doesn't happen I can't imagine this fight gets any bigger than an arena.

I agree that Fury had a rough year and needs at least another fight to sharpen up if Wladamir is to see the best him but if his goal was the world title, saviour of the HW division, heir to the throne etc, then he would have fought Pulev in an eliminator that he worked hard to get instead of fighting a boxer who had no titles, rankings or nowt and according to Tyson himself has previous for pulling out fights when theres nothing wrong with himAden wrote:Tyson had a rough year in 2013 in terms of income and ring time. As for slagging Chisora for being boring against Johnson, hypocritical
Just to clarify,i like Tyson but

Wouldn't happen ...because as soon as it kicked off the fury family would put dell boy in tractionmilpool wrote:For this fight to be big, Tyson Fury needs to bad mouth Dereck Chisora in a press conference, Dereck needs to get off his seat and come face to face with Tyson, punches need to be thrown before Dereck claims that Tyson glassed him.

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
Until last night's post fight interview with Delboy, I hadn't heard about the Povetkin fight in Moscow. Delboy gave the impression the offer is more or less on the table. I wonder if that megabucks Russian promoter who backed Povetkin vs Wlad is behind this one - Delboy is naturally after the biggest paydays and that could be a career best one.
Doesn't do much for Fwank - who would rather put on a big domestic show with the rematch with Fury.
I don't know if Povetkin remains the WBA junior champ ?

It's okay joking about it until someone gets physically burned.lillywhite14 wrote:I assume you meant 'glarsed'milpool wrote:For this fight to be big, Tyson Fury needs to bad mouth Dereck Chisora in a press conference, Dereck needs to get off his seat and come face to face with Tyson, punches need to be thrown before Dereck claims that Tyson glassed him.

What made his bad man threats seem even more hollow is when Booth fronted him up about himself being glassed, and Del Boy seemed to melt a little bit!

Chisora is going to physically beat Fury in the return! It'll be revenge, not repeat!
Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
I'd rather the rematch didn't happen.

Maybe it happened while you were pissed, but Del Boy fought Vitali, and acquitted himself very well.handsofstone wrote: they both should be fighting for World title now or at least an Eliminator

Chisora is looking to be in good shape these days, almost 2 stone lighter than when he fought Fury. Fury doesn't have the power to stop Chisora in my opinion, so if they do fight, and Fury isn't in shape he could have a fight on his hands.

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
I think the two men would of been better off having fought on seperate cards, rather than being on the same bill. The entire card, for the most part, was horrible. It also didn't spring up much confidence in fans, no matter how diehard, for a Chisora/Fury rematch--- no offense to Chisora, but he may as well been facing a punching bag and Fury (though he won easily, as expected) looked like he spent too many nights out at the Piggly Wiggly.
Before this event, Chisora/Fury II looked like a blockbuster smash--- now? I dont think people would throw a wooden nickel into the pot to go and see it. For one, it's something that's already been done. Second, Chisora and Fury seem to be in two different worlds--- Fury is grasping for a title shot, and Chisora is still facing domestic level fighters (and losing more than winning). What ought to happen, imho, is to have a substitution fight for both men. Say, Fury/Browne and Chisora/Thompson, and then after that why not do the rematch.

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
In a way, it feels like it wasn't that big a deal orginally.
Yes, it was a British heavyweight title fight at Wembley Arena.
But I remember that fight more because it was the first one on Channel 5 than because I cared about the fight itself. I watched the whole thing trying to see how good the channel's coverage, which seemed more worthy of analysis than the fight itself.
On Saturday I did some research, finally found a pub near-ish me that has the channel, and watched it. So if I aint doing anything I might nip out for a pint or ten with the fight, but I won't cry if I miss it.

I just don't see the point of Fury -v- Chisora 2.
I can see why Chisora would want it, but I don't see the point from Fury's eyes.
Fury needs to be thinking of moving on & stepping up.
He talks a big fight, so he should be looking at the likes of Arreola maybe.
Chisora will keep plodding along & thanks to the fact that he's finally realised that professional boxers need to get into shape, he'll enjoy reasonable success, but he will get plastered when he steps up in class, in much the way that Haye destroyed him.

Neither Fury or Del seem that bothered to be honest. It's Fwank who is.Syntax Error wrote:I just don't see the point of Fury -v- Chisora 2.
