Yes, this is Warrens idea, the fighters are not bothered about it, Warren will back the winner, in a world title bid, a no lose situation for him.handsofstone wrote:Anzi wrote:It won't happen, last night Fury was very negative about Chisora's performance, hardly building up the fight and Chisora said he wanted to fight Povetkin, I can't see Fury v Chisora happening, Povetkin is a bigger fight for Chisora, then Fury on the world scene, Fury could end up in limbo. It does seem like this fight being forced upon not only the fans but also the fighters, neither seems interested in going over old ground and fair enough if Chisora wants to avenge the defeat but how can Fury justify fighting a man who was sparked out in 5 by a man who he says is scared of him
If your a boxer with ambitions you want to
1-create a legacy by winning a world title
2-make money by winning a world title
I respect anyone who steps into the ring but i have more for the fighters that fall into the no1 catagory,i respect boxers who want to secure their financial future too but i hate fighters who bullpoo fans by avoiding on the pretence to be following a more secure route to a title(ie,mandatory with no add on,s) but when the time arrives pull out for a more lucaritve offer

Why does Fury not fight someone with a decent top ten ranking and force a world title fight that way?

Because Del is far better known in this country than all of the top ten.Terminator666 wrote:Why does Fury not fight someone with a decent top ten ranking and force a world title fight that way?

That's exactly what he's doing.Terminator666 wrote:Why does Fury not fight someone with a decent top ten ranking and force a world title fight that way?
Chisora

WBA - 14

WBC - 7
Fury

Getting world title shots these days is about getting your profile high enough that people will pay to see you fight for a title. Achievements in the ring is very little to do with it any more.
Also, bear in mind, Hennessy is working with a Channel 5 budget. He'll struggle to get big name heavyweights appearing on his cards. Reaching an agreement with Frank Spank for him to fight on a couple of Copperbox cards and then having a rematch with Chisora is probably easier than getting a top contender on one of his own shows.

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
it's rare to get two top ten british heavy weights fighting each other so it will be a bigish fight mainly because of fury ,i think of chisora as fwarrens pet project he really seems to back del boy .

Chisora ticks that box, although not sure it will be made a final eliminator.Terminator666 wrote:Why does Fury not fight someone with a decent top ten ranking and force a world title fight that way?
Its also a low risk option, someone he has beaten before, Fury matches up well with him and importantly, Del Boy don't carry much in terms of power.

In answer to the OP's question
Not for me personally it won't, i really didn't enjoy watching either of them on Saturday night.

Wazza's going for the WBO Final eliminator, they're ranked 2 and 7 and it's a allegedly show, so they'll probably say yes to a final eliminator.lillywhite14 wrote:Chisora ticks that box, although not sure it will be made a final eliminator.Terminator666 wrote:Why does Fury not fight someone with a decent top ten ranking and force a world title fight that way?

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
Shame if true, I'm just thinking of preparing Fury for Wlad. He won't be ready, not saying he ever would be but his team won't have given him the best chance of beating Wlad if all that's left between him and Wlad is another win over Del Boy.
Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
Think he's fighting again in April and Wlad seems set to fight Pulev later this year since he's IBF mandatory, so it will be at least 12 months from now until the fight, providing he beats Chisora, so he'll probably fight at least one more time this year after Chisora, although that's likely to be a risk free fight to preserve the title shot, they'll probably be looking at where he fights more closely than the opponent, the US is a possibility if he wants HBO TV coverage, he could fight in Belfast again or go to Dublin if he doesn't fight in Manchester.lillywhite14 wrote:Shame if true, I'm just thinking of preparing Fury for Wlad. Just seems like they are going to sit and wait until they get the shot. Fair enough I guess, he will earn well out of it and it could possibly be about waiting until Wlad is done.
Fair few fighters out there that would give him a proper test though and if he comes through a genuine test or two he will be a better fighter for it.

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
He would be a better fighter, but the money on offer to fight Wlad is just too good and to be honest, every other heavyweight is angling for the same shot and would only want to fight him if it was a world title eliminator, otherwise the risk's too big, when Wlad retires, the entire division is thrown open and while the quality could be questioned, there's the potential for some great match ups in there that probably won't get made until that time comes.lillywhite14 wrote:Just seems like they are going to sit and wait until they get the shot. I can't see it being that big a deal and will be very surprised if it brings in that many new subs to BN. Casuals main exposure to Chis was him getting KTFO against Haye and Fury's main exposure has been on C5 for free.

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
The key thing is that people know who they are, they get mainstream media coverage (numerous articles by the BBC on Saturday's show before and after) and neither's short of controversy, put the two together and you get a fight that people want to see. Chisora's biggest exposure was his antics with the Klitschko's and at the press conference and Tyson's always entertaining, you don't know what to expect, in the ring or out and that gets people interested, you always get that feeling of vulnerability with him and it makes him good to watch. They're not after loads of subscribers, currently it's around 120,000, 35,000 more means allegedly breaks even, anything above that is pure profit. If Mayweather fights Khan, they'll probably get the extra subscribers and then some, the key after that is keeping the subscriptions and Fury-Chisora a month later will be the key to that, it's also likely to be an exciting fight, making it perfect for the planned international expansion.jtourettes wrote:I can't see it being that big a deal and will be very surprised if it brings in that many new subs to BN. Expe, where do you get your BN subscriber figures from ?
The channel is brilliant and I want it to stick around. If they're still not breaking even, it surely can't last...

Re: Will Chisora vs Fury 2 be that big a deal ?
The booklet offering it to potential investors, it was posted on here a few days ago, I'll try and find it again later. Showed spikes in subscription of 107,000, plus 65,000 PPV's for Haye-Chisora and around 40,000 for Mayweather-Alvarez, a substantial fall in losses for 2013 compared to 2012, who the main investors are and that current subscribership is 120,000, the current base of existing and former subscribers is over 200,000 on Sky alone, 155,000 subscribers are needed to break even and have positive cash flow and at 200,000 subscribers it would be significantly profitable.JimJim2009 wrote:Expe, where do you get your BN subscriber figures from ?

There is no way this fight sells out a 40,000+ stadium. No chance. I love Fury, but he hasn't got a big following and neither has Chisora.
