Hughie's cut
Hughie's cut
Seemed to be a fair trickle of blood coming from the spot on his back on Saturday night. Poor chap. Not his fault at all but it was up there as one of the more sickening things I've seen in a boxing ring, made worse in HD. Did anybody notice if the corner tried to treat it or stop the bleeding between rounds?
The cut got me thinking. Are there any known cases of an opponent refusing to fight on because of an opponents blood or puss going on them? Or because an opponents injury was so grotesque they couldn't look at them or they didn't want to cause more damage? I know there have been some really horrific eye injuries over the years. Personally I would be a lot more comfortable with somebody's blood going on me from a regular fight cut that gave me some sort of advantage as opposed to fluid from an opponents spot bursting into my face?

Re: Hughie's cut
If the sight of a cut freaks you out in anyway, boxing's not the sport for you. It's only the referee, the corners or the doctors choice to stop the fight, so refusing to fight is a DQ or TKO loss. It's a brutal sport so you have to be brutaljohnswan1 wrote:Seemed to be a fair trickle of blood coming from the spot on his back on Saturday night. Poor chap. Re: Hughie's cut
His complexion is a bit rough but he seems a good boxer. I noticed the bleeding spot and it was a bit icky but not enough for the ref to dive in..... (insert Ian John Lewis/Howard Foster joke).

I am with the opening poster on this, I had it on the massive telly in full HD and as far as I could see the top came off a particularly bad spot, weird how it bled like that though. I guess the sweat and lights made it look worse.
It seemed strange how Tyson also had spots on his back, though not as bad.

I realise it sounded like I was hinting at the consumption of naughty sports supplements, I honestly wasn't though. I meant it like it sounds - it just seemed strange to me how they were both like that. Maybe they've been training hard (well, Hughie anyway) and then not bathing or something. Tyson did go on about how the bath in his lodgings at the training camp bit him.Teddy's Toupee wrote:What are you hinting at, you tease?JimJim2009 wrote:I am with the opening poster on this, I had it on the massive telly in full HD and as far as I could see the top came off a particularly bad spot, weird how it bled like that though.
