Could you post the motivating photo so we all can see? Why would I want to keep such inspiration to just me an mine?

You are a motivational speaker correct?

Buzzy, the poster is only available to those who would truly appreciate it. That's why I offered it to you. Surely, you could find a space for it between your poster of Princess Di and the one advertising the Tiny Tim Ukelele Concert in Pigs Knuckle, Arkansas.

You do realise that Rory specifically asked that this thread not be turned into a joke. I'm trying to do my bit. I just wish he'd enlighten me on all the hugging he claims takes place at showings of The Cinderella Man in the USA. Did you see anything akin to that when were sitting there with your litre of pepsi coke and your bucket of pop corn?

Hmmm well I'm just an old softy and I was hugging my wife at that time.
I thought the movie was very good. And I was inspired by his determination and decency. But remember I'm quite a bit older than the average boxrec contributor. So I'm just a sentimental old fluff. Oh and I even named my dog after Braddock.

But the work you have done and the inspiration that you have provided....now that's an entirely different kettle of fish altogether.

Buzz, I'm not interested in what you and your wife get up to. Some things are best kept private. However, I am interested in the dog. Can you tell me a bit more about it?

Pete, we once had a dog in the 60's with the same name as Douglas Bader's black labrador. Was it Bader? They sampled the movie in The Wall, anyway. You don't see many black labs with that name these days.

You ever visit The Thomas A'Beckett? That used to be my local for a while when I was living just off The Old Kent Road.

Ahhh Me pooch? Well He's a very rare american breed called a Carolina Swamp Hound....recognized by the American Rare Breed Association....you can google them as "Carolina Dogs" They are related to the Australian Dingo and are indiginous to North America. Sharp minded loyal and strong. Quite a set of jaws though not on the order of a Pitt Bull. Very good family dogs He'll end up around 70 pounds most likely.

Actually I must say I know it may seem I'm taking the micky but I'm not really... theres nothing wrong in admiring someone like Braddock, his story shows that anyone can achieve their dream, no matter how many set backs they have had and how many people have written them off... whether it be in boxing or anything else in life.

But You still need to watch much more Larry Homes Rory. :-? :-? .. study that jab!... :x

Rory, why not answer my question regarding the audience hugging you claimed takes place whenever you go to the movies and watch The Cinderella Man? I just can't picture it myself. I think you added that for effect. You know, a bit of artistic licence. God knows we are all guilty of that at times.

And don't be telling me where and when to post, little buddy. If you don't want comments on your posts then you know what to do.

Good night and god bless.

the first time i saw that movie people were hugging and cheering. same thing happened when i went to see the movie Miracle.. (and by the way i mean hugging there friends and family its not like some random dude came up to me and hugged me....????)

I have a question about this comment Rory. I've read post were you argue that Braddock was alot better fighter than given credit for, and youve picked him in several post to either beat or be competitve with very good and even some HOF fighters. So why is beating Max Baer doing the impossible and unbeleivable? Baer was not exactly Dempsey or Louis.

no i agree with that about louis and dempsey.. but it was the fact that braddock hadnt fought in almost a year before this run... he was beaten up badly by the depression..he was close to living on the streets.. he was considered OLD..he was considered washed up..meanwhile max was in his prime and the most feared boxing around.

As you are 17 you wouldn't have been around for Holmes' reign. So which of his fights have you seen on TV or tape or DVD? Which ones impressed you? Which ones didn't?

i always thought holmes peak fight was shavers I, then agian shavers basically didnt use anything but his jab for 12 rounds but it was a complete shutout domination.

Jesus man! if those are the only fights you've seen of Larry how can you make any judgement upon him or his opposition?!. I have all his world title fights and most of his pre and post reign fights.... you really need to see more of him. How can you dimiss his opposition when you haven't even seen it!... :x
