Undercard for Groves/Froch II

Re: Undercard for Groves/Froch II
wonder what Audley has got on that weekend??
Re: Undercard for Groves/Froch II
I'm not having a go but I don't agree. Eddie has talked this fight up a lot but I just don't see what Coyle has done or beaten to have people raving about him? He toughed it out well against Derry and was competitive but Matthews, while highly entertaining and having the heart of a lion, has a good few losses in the last few years at domestic/Euro level. It's an okay fight but if Mitchell really has any claim to be well beyond the UK scene he should be looking to win fights like this with easepalooka wrote:That's a good boutwhiteboy wrote:Mitchell-Coyle it looks like

Coyle,s a good fighter and is improving IMO but i do think he,s lucked out with being from Hull along with Campbell, right place, right timefizzjambo wrote:I'm not having a go but I don't agree. I think Parson's right, whether us fans like it or not.
I'd like to think Eddie will at least have a go at making the u/c decent, but as has been pointed out, his top fighters - Quigg, Brook, Burns, Bellew - can all draw crowds and headline shows in their own right. We can say right now that Joshua, Campbell and Yafai will knock out their over-matched opponents on the night. When you look at Eddie's unfolding schedule for the first half of 2014 there's not a lot of good fighters not already pencilled in for action elsewhere.

Yeah but the issue is that when Frank does something similar, he gets slaughtered. There's a double standardJimJim2009 wrote:I think Parson's right, whether us fans like it or not.

Until 2 1/2 minutes into round 10 he dominated, but that's not much different to what Stephen Ormond did in December, except he didn't get knocked out, but he isn't in world title eliminators.mickey1975 wrote:Competitive against Matthews? Re: Undercard for Groves/Froch II
And to be honest Fwank gets it in the neck both ways, if he puts a good undercard on, he has to put less shows on, so there isn't enough domestic action on allegedly, or he puts more shows on, but with poor undercards and gets stick for a shit undercard. Eddie has the fighters to put a good undercard on every show, but he isn't doing it.columbo wrote:Yeah but the issue is that when Frank does something similar, he gets slaughtered. An undercard shouldn't just be about the names but the actual competitiveness of their fights.
I'd prefer to see an undercard with Audley Harrison v Ian Lewison than Anthony Joshua v Dorian Darch, personally...

Over the past 12-18 months Warren's cards fall to pieces at worst, or have several changes at best, its difficult to evaluate his card because what do you evaluate, the initial line up - which is his "ideal world" card, or the line up we get on the night ?columbo wrote:Yeah but the issue is that when Frank does something similar, he gets slaughtered. With Eddie, they tend to stay the same, or have no more than the usual small number of changes.
No doubt due to the pressure of keeping BN afloat, gone are the days that Fwank announces a proper bill. He announces a mixture of fights and fighters vs TBA. All the match ups change.
Having said all that, in fairness to Fwank, his upcoming Liverpool one is holding together so far, and the 3 main fights seem pretty good. I presume that financial difficulties cause all these problems and I hope his fortunes improve. Pound for pound, I rate Fwank a better promoter than Hearn. Its difficult to compare them at the minute because one of them has the cost of running a tv channel, whilst the other has the full backing of Sky.
Re: Undercard for Groves/Froch II
Unbelievably Fwank announced the entire bill for Saturday's York Hall show last month, including all the opponents, has now added Conrad Cummings and Chris Eubank Jr with opponents... and no one's pulled outJimJim2009 wrote:Over the past 12-18 months Warren's cards fall to pieces at worst, or have several changes at best, its difficult to evaluate his card because what do you evaluate, the initial line up - which is his "ideal world" card, or the line up we get on the night ?columbo wrote:Yeah but the issue is that when Frank does something similar, he gets slaughtered. Kevin Mitchell and John Ryder would be good ticket sellers down there if it is the Emirates. Might get Crolla on there following the recovery to the cut he has had in training.
'Big fight' Matchoom undercards are similar to K2 undercards - full of shit, Eddie 'New Age Promoting' Hearn doesn't give a eff about the fans, he knows the main event will sell so he won't have to spend much on an UC.

Yeah, the mitchell vs coyle fight looks very good if they both come through. That will be supported by the usual one sided phenomenons like campbell, joshua etc.

Re: Undercard for Groves/Froch II
he said yesterday that hes looking to put another world title on the undercard along with joshua and campbell and only having 7 fights in total but if mitchell v coyle is one of them then surley hes taking note of the feedback last time
Re: Undercard for Groves/Froch II
Knowing Eddies recent stacked undercards , most likely Scott Quigg defending what he, Hearn and Gallagher define as a world title, against a banatamweight who mysterisouly appears in the WBA top 15 6 weeks before the fight.thatllbeme wrote:he said yesterday that hes looking to put another world title on the undercard along with joshua and campbell and only having 7 fights in total but if mitchell v coyle is one of them then surley hes taking note of the feedback last time
An serious note. Matchroom are due to get a World Champion over Brook v Porter would be perfect.

I thought Alexander was going to exercise his right to a rematch? Not heard anything for a while, have I missed anything?Naandrew wrote:Knowing Eddies recent stacked undercards , most likely Scott Quigg defending what he, Hearn and Gallagher define as a world title, against a banatamweight who mysterisouly appears in the WBA top 15 6 weeks before the fight.thatllbeme wrote:he said yesterday that hes looking to put another world title on the undercard along with joshua and campbell and only having 7 fights in total but if mitchell v coyle is one of them then surley hes taking note of the feedback last time

Read that from ring magazine there's no rematch clause.
I remember Scheafer a few weeks ago on ringside said he wanted to make Proter v Thurman. That would have been a quality fight but nothing has happened from it. Pretty sure Hearn has said Brook v Porter must happen by end of June and with Porter not having anything lined up and Brook likely blasting someone out in a pointless fight in Liverpool in a few weeks, May 31st is ideal.

I genuinely hope that is a positive sign for him and not a one off. The boxing channel has drained him of millions and I hope his fortunes turn around this year

I wouldn't worry about Fwank if I were you. He's not thick and would have fully expected to incurr big losses at this stage.
