soon as hearns connects it`s over,good as bomber was,he can`t keep hearns at bay for 12 rounds,main problem for herol was he made everyone look bad,they all considered him one of the "who needs him" brigade

Yeah I think Graham would keep it tight for about 5 or 6 rounds then Hearns would KO him.

I think Hearns was far less devastating at middle. Graham by TKO in 11.

Hearns by early KO or wide decision. Herol really has nothing for him.

With regret...it must be a win for Detroit and Mr. Hearns.

Just too much power and heat from TH plus that telescopic reach that allows him to land despite Herol's speed and movement; also Herol lacks the firepower to stop Hearns from coming forwards and throwing his bombs.

Then you've got the fact that Herol sometimes switched-off and made mistakes in the fights that really, really mattered.

I don't see Hearns stopping him, the Jackson KO was a perfect shot, like Tommy's against Duran. It's possible, but it's more likely that it goes the distance. Tommy wins, because even Herol isn't going to outbox him (I think you need Moore or Charles at LH before that happens), but I think Herol is elusive enough to make it interesting, and ambitious enough to keep Tommy honest. He can't win it though, bad match for him.

Hearns was never too worried by boxers. This would be similar to the Benitez fight with Tommy in control and winning most of the rounds.

Just to point out, Sam, Hearns' KO of Duran and Jackson's of Graham are totally different.

Hearns had battered Duran and hit him with right hand after right hand before the KO. It was a dramatic shot that ended it but Duran had been tenderised and seasoned before that. Jackson's really was one hit.

True, but I absolutely refute that it meant Herol was chinny. He went the distance with McCallum without ever being in trouble, and for me, he won that fight. The trouble is, Jackson was such a perfect highlight reel KO that people who didn't see the rest of his career pick Herol to get stopped by everyone.

Graham was able to take Mccallum to the wire and some thought he deserved that decision.

I am interested to know how Hearns usual boxing works against Grahams unorthadox style of boxing.

I think it's frustrating for him, but if anyone can land on the elusive Graham, it's Tommy, who was almost laser guided. Also remember that against McCallum, he rarely employed that elusiveness in the way that he could.

Hearns 'Boxing' worked against everyone he employed it against. No reason to think Graham would fair any better than Leonard, Benitez or Hill. To beat Hearns you had to suck it up and take a load of punishment. I don't know if Graham would even be willing to try that.

Graham was better than Hill, for all Hill's resume is better. I even think he might have beaten Virgil in the ring, despite the weight disadvantage. Benitez is a different matter; for all that he was mercurial compared to Hill's steady reliability, he mixed, and won, and lost, in a higher class. If Herol beat McCallum, made 5 defences, moved up, win a super middle title and then lost it to BHop, then we're talking. Hearns wins.

That said, Hearns never fought anyone quite like Herol. I don't see Herol winning, but I'd like to see how it panned out

Not everybody thinks Graham beat McCallum, I think that decision was correct. It was a close fight, a lot of close rounds but in the end the judges got it right imo.
