Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
I imagine both taking heavy punishment at some stage and Bruno usually started well before running out of steam down the stretch, but can he do some damage to Foreman mk II?

Can't see anything other but Bruno on the floor when the dust clears.
Re: Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
interesting, it could hsve happened.
i could actually make a case for bruno. he was powerful, very stiff jab. and old gf probably wouldnt overwhelm him with pressure. of course we know bruno can be ko'd but i'd suggest bruno would win a decision.

Not as cut and dried as it sounds. Bruno actually had a very good chin, not many fighters took the blows Bruno took from Tyson without hitting the floor. Foreman was even slower than Bruno so I doubt he would have knocked him out or impose his strength that easy, Bruno was a very strong guy and just as heavy as Foreman. I could see Frank winning this on points.

Foreman Mark II had an even better jab than Bruno, a better chin, was more powerful, much more ring wisdom, savvy and psychological strength. Maybe slower on his feet at this point, but quick enough, especially upstairs.
Foreman by KO.
Foreman by KO.
Re: Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
Bruno by decision is a strong possibility, but I think somewhere between the 8th and 12th round Foreman would put his lights out.
Bruno would be well ahead on the cards though.

Good matchup for old George. Give me Foreman by late TKO or decision after Frank goes down hard in the 12th but holds on to last the distance.

What's interesting is that Bruno only won two fights by decision: against Oliver McCall and Phillip Brown.gilgamesh wrote:Bruno by decision is a strong possibility, but I think somewhere between the 8th and 12th round Foreman would put his lights out.

All five of his losses came by knockout.
Would Bruno have beaten Alex Stewart?

Foreman kayos him.
Re: Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
Foreman would not have taken this fight without the main belt being on the line. He was a very stationary target and this fight win or lose would have been very bad for his health.
I'd expect a lopsided points win for Bruno if he survives a late shot on the button without gassing out. He could stop George early

Re: Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
Frank's problem was more stamina related than his chin. Everyone of Tyson's losses were by stoppage but I wouldn't say Tyson was chinny. Also Foreman was stopped by Ali, dropped several times by Lyle and dropped by powder puff puncher Young, yet again I wouldn't call him chinny.Cutman Scabbers wrote:

Bruno was actually a decent boxer, good jab and strong. Some had him ahead against Lewis. Foreman too slow I feel.
Also Foreman was very carefully matched in his second career, he didn't fight any top 10 heavyweight before challenging Holyfield and stated he wanted nothing to do with Lewis.

Re: Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
Old George appeared willing to face the Frank Bruno-ish, Gary Mason at one point before Big Gary had his detached retina. I would see Frank edging a close fight, but perhaps getting ripped off on the cards. Unpopular split decision to Foreman maybe. George's face would look as bad as the Stewart fight though.
Re: Old George Foreman v Frank Bruno
Yes but those losses were to who? Lewis, Smith, Tyson x2, and Witherspoon. That's not a bad list there, so to simply say his 5 losses were by KO, is a little unfair. His chin was pretty decent, given that all these guys could bang and bar Tyson I and II, in which he still took tremendous shots (particularly Tyson I), he took his lumps well when a lot probably would not have been able to.Cutman Scabbers wrote:What's interesting is that Bruno only won two fights by decision: against Oliver McCall and Phillip Brown.gilgamesh wrote:Bruno by decision is a strong possibility, but I think somewhere between the 8th and 12th round Foreman would put his lights out.

I agree. And to ad to your points, it generally took a pretty aggressive attack and multiple hard shots before Frank either folded or a ref intervened. Foreman had enough power to do the job, but he didn't have the quickness or volume to do to him what Tyson or Lewis did, both of whim btw had to take some big shots before having their way with him.. I am leaning towards Frank by a decision.NazNaci1 wrote:Yes but those losses were to who? Lewis, Smith, Tyson x2, and Witherspoon. I think Bruno would KO Stewart as well...whether it would be early or not I don't know, but I'd pick Bruno by KO.NazNaci1 wrote:Yes but those losses were to who?
