Matchroom show not great. Again!

Post by smiling assassin »

To be fair the only real reason people are looking forward to the show tonight is because Curtis woodhouse is on the bill and he posts here. Without being disrespectful to Curtis he shouldn't be in the headlining fight not on tv anyway. The boys got a massive heart and has got a bit of pop in his punches and I want him to win but the headlining fight is a bit of a joke. I wouldn't watch Hamilton even if he was fighting in me garden. McDonnell vs woods looks good on paper but haven't seen woods fight before and that as the supporting bout is poor although it might turn out to be a cracker. And all the other fights are just a waste of time

Yeah I know what your saying every fight could turn out to be great just think on paper the line up is definately below average for a night on the box

Rather see Wood v McDonnell and Woodhouse v Hamilton than for example Kell Brook v someone who won't win a round.

Couldnt agree more. Although the Wood v McDonnell fight is pitting relative novices against each other its a 50/50 fight.

i love boxing like most the people on here but this is eddie's worst ever show
I would not watch these fights if they were on in my back garden,,

his next two shows will make up for this one and i understand he is trying to build cambell into a superstar in hull

There is nothing wrong with the card.

Coyles opponent looks decent plus it's not at a massive arena so isn't too bad plus Eddie hasn't been raving about it eg stacked card

Personally the Liverpool show is a joke due to Smith and Fielding not facing each other the BBBoC seem to agree

Is it because it's Hull? If it was Joshua headlining with Mitchell chief support and Purdy-Skeete plus Camacho-Conquest on the undercard would people be happier?

Is this card really that much worse than the Brook/Saldivia card or the Brook/Senchenko one?

Eddie's worst.show.ever is a pretty bold claim.

Agree it's not Eddie's best work but for me it's better than the bashes bill. Mcdonnell vs Wood is a real 50/50 which should be fun.

It`s a little weak because we only have 20 dates(and some of them are prizefighters)a year if we had 30 plus this card would be perfectly fine. This card is more for the hardcore who whinge about names against nobodies. This could be good especially if Woodhouse puts up a good effort against Hamillton and the Argie gives Coyle a good fight. Most matchroom shows are decent,he got the scheduling wrong for the last London one but the main event was decent and the Welsh one was very good with the Rees-Buckland war,I would score that one around 7 and a half out of 10.The last card from Wazza was dire if Fury wasn`t such a funny fornicator, I scored that one 6/10.I prefer what they are dong then the old ffn days some of those cards were terrible with one mismatch and some taped stuff afterwards, now we get around 3/4 hours of live boxing sometime more with the red button.

It's not a bad show, but the fights before they go live on Sky are nothing to shout about, but Curtis against Hamilton and McDonnell-Wood should be decent fights, but they're the first two fights and Coyle's in with the latest Argentinian import who will no doubt fall over at the first sign of pressure, so I might switch off after Curtis beats Hamilton because I can't be arsed with the Luke Campbell spunkfest that will follow.

No, Campbell was boring as usual, Coyle-Brizuela was a cracker and Woodhouse-Hamilton was good, McDonnell-Wood was ok, but if it's the best show, it's just pure luck that a couple of the fights came together brilliantly.

And if a different show is crap it's bad luck? It was great entertainment. Campbell isn't boring at all, his fights are just one sided at the moment. 3 excellent scheduled 12 rounders, you can't ask for more.

I think the standard of the majority of the fights was domestic level but because they were in the main evenly matched it meant they were probably going to be close back and forth affairs. A lot of bills tend to be filled with some guys who are way above the level of the guys on show tonight but fighting opposition well below them.

You said yourself that area level title fights have no place on tv. I disagree and think if those fights are really even then there's no problem with them being say 3rd or 4th fight down the card. Obviously not at a stadium fight but you get my point.

Do you think there'll be good fights on the Liverpool show, or just a chance for the people to see their local fighters in easy fights?
