Paul Smith vs Rocky fielding
Paul Smith vs Rocky fielding
Anything happening with that since the board ordered it or is Fielding being lined up for fight some argentinian we've never heard of instead for a WBC trinket belt?

Re: Paul Smith vs Rocky fielding
I thought Fielding,s next defence was against Dodson on the Liverpool show in a couple weeks
Re: Paul Smith vs Rocky fielding
Yeah it is but Smith's defense against Webb was turned down by the board and the board ordered that he should fight Fielding next.handsofstone wrote:I thought Fielding,s next defence was against Dodson on the Liverpool show in a couple weeks

Have you noticed the inactivity of British titles, the last couple of years?columbo wrote:Yeah it is but Smith's defense against Webb was turned down by the board and the board ordered that he should fight Fielding next.handsofstone wrote:I thought Fielding,s next defence was against Dodson on the Liverpool show in a couple weeks
Bellew was the last LHW champ,he,s had about 4 fights since winning it(although Ajisafe/Francis fight for it in few weeks,Gethin hasnt fought for ages, his last fight was IBF eliminator,Dickinson hasnt fought for since beating Stafford(although he defends on Hall card i think,Price hasnt defended since 4 fights ago although he vacated,Smigga hasnt defended since beating Dodson, you,ve got the Walsh/Sykes situation with SFW,Butler hasnt and wont be defending his title recently
It seems to me there are just loadsof International/Intercontinental fights in UK these days

Things have been quiet with the British titlehandsofstone wrote:Have you noticed the inactivity of British titles, the last couple of years?columbo wrote:Yeah it is but Smith's defense against Webb was turned down by the board and the board ordered that he should fight Fielding next.handsofstone wrote:I thought Fielding,s next defence was against Dodson on the Liverpool show in a couple weeks

Flyweight - Satchell defended it in July, Commonwealth defence up next, then a mandatory against Butler
Super Flyweight - Butler won it in November 2012, yet to make a defence and probably never will. To be fair there aren't many super flyweights about domestically and the belt's only been contested 6 times.
Bantamweight - Haskins defended in November against Booth after winning it in April in the first fight for the title in 18 months and he's fighting for the WBC International title next weekend.
Super Bantamweight - Gavin McDonnell and Leigh Wood fighting for this one tomorrow. Galahad won it in September after Quigg vacated, 18 months between Quigg's last defence and Galahad-Dickens.
Featherweight - Selby defended it against Munroe earlier this month, 2 defences last year after none since December 2011, Selby's defended the title 4 times now.
Super Featherweight - Walsh and Sykes fight for the title in April after Stephen Smith vacated, fight has been put back a couple of times.
Lightweight - Gethin won the title last January and was due to defend against Crolla on the Froch-Groves undercard but pulled out injured, no new date or venue has been set and Crolla looks set to fight John Murray in April, so should be stripped of the mandatory position, Gethin will then possibly defend against Terry Flanagan on the Frankie Gavin bill that's being lined up for Birmingham in the summer.
Light Welterweight - Hamilton-Woodhouse tomorrow giving him the chance to win the belt outright after nearly 2 years, mainly down to Maloney losing his Sky TV deal and then retiring, but hopefully Curtis will knock him out.
Welterweight - Frankie Gavin won the title from Witter in November 2012, won it outright in September against Barnes after defences against Welborn and Vassell, probably won't vacate until asked to make a mandatory, which could be a while because Ekundayo-Foot has been set as an eliminator, but Foot was hacked in the arm with a machete before Christmas and it will be a while before he fights again, if at all.
Light Middleweight - Liam Smith won the title in September, defended against Thompson in December, Nav Mansouri is mandatory with the fight due by the end of May.
Middleweight - Saunders defended against Ryder in December, Blackwell is next as mandatory, but he's already beat him and seems to have a European title fight lined up so will probably vacate.
Super Middleweight - Very little activity with this one, Groves held the title up for a while before vacating, then Kenny Anderson was stripped after failing a drugs test, Smith beat Dodson in June, was down to fight Tobias Webb next month but the board refused, Rocky Fielding has now been made mandatory.
Light Heavyweight - Last fought for in April 2012, board waited an age to strip Bellew, Ajisafe and Francis were going to fight for it in November, one of them pulled out with injury, now set for next month in Reading on Channel 5.
Cruiserweight - Dickinson makes his first defence since April in Newcastle next month against Neil Dawson.
Heavyweight - Price fought Skelton in November 2012, nothing since, has now vacated, but it doesn't seem like anyone's willing, able or worthy of fighting for the title.
A lot of varying degrees of activity with Light Heavyweight, Heavyweight and Super Flyweight the worst, followed by Lightweight, Cruiserweight and Super Middleweight, but the Featherweight, Welterweight and Light Middleweight titles have all been pretty active recently.

As for 'El Miserable' he needs to man the fornicate up and face Fielding, because he's not world level, not even European level and never will be, he's still gassed off being on the The Fighter with Gallagher pumping up his helium levels.

Really impressed with Foot in prizefighter and wanted him to push on and take the British after Frankie finally moves up in class.
Hope he can recover.

Paul Smith has already said he won't be vacating the British till he's won it out right. He's more than happy to fight Fielding. It's now in Rocky & matchrooms hands whether they man up or give up mandatory position and fight an Argie for a world ranking.
Re: Paul Smith vs Rocky fielding
Was never officially announced, but it was meant to be to do with a local family up there that he got into bother with, no name was ever given, but it was a 26 year old, same age as Foot, from Marley Potts, apparently the area he comes from and a quick look around some Sunderland forums backs the story up.Naandrew wrote:Woah didn't know about that !!!!expe wrote:
