Arlene Blencowe
When going to the page on Boxrec Australian World Champions it lists 24 boxers. I'm puzzled why Arlene Blencowe is listed amongst these champions? She has a record of 2-2 and won a World Boxing Federation title and a WIBA International title. Nothing against the girl but her achievements don't warrant her being on this page as point of reference. Australia currently has 10 World Boxing Foundation Champions I don't see them listed in there...come on surely?
Re: Arlene Blencowe
Probably inserted by a relative ;;-)
Re: Arlene Blencowe
Who ever wrote this message needs to be removed from this site. You obviously have no idea or recall of why when Arlene won her titles. It saddens me when people go on these sites to out a fellow fighter down. This woman (Arlene). Took a weeks notice to box in NZ and challenged a hometown girl with vast experience and won virtually every round and won both titles. To me that showed a lot in the boxer. As for the foundation who are they?
Re: Arlene Blencowe
Ricky try not to get too offended. His argument is not that she wasn't a tough or good fighter, just that we have to be a little more picky About who is a champion.
If anything I think people on these forums are too quick to take credit from fighters, especially on the current scene.
If what you say is true Arlene deserves her due respect. The question is whether she was a champ.

Re: Arlene Blencowe
I might add, in that part of Boxrec inserts ain't necessarily done so by Editors.
What is a “world” title is debatable & no doubt always will be. Unless WBC, WBA, IBF & to certain extent WBO, 99% of fight fans reckon the rest are crap.
It's only a listing, and individual's record & success' (past & present) has no bearing.
Admittedly but unintentionally, some if not all WBFoundation's haven't been inserted because no-one is available to do it.
If & when I got time on my hands, I do contribute to boxers' bio = Pic & title won list e.g.

I agree 100% and Just to add to this topic, I was the Supervisor for this title fight in NZ, It's easy to pick Sh1t at someone, when you don't know the real story, but it's typical.
This is how the fight happened:
Daniela Smith (NZ) was to fight Australian Sarah Howett, it would have been a terrific fight, sadly 4 days before the fight, Sarah, while running in Melb, slipped and hurt her hand as she landed, tearing the ligaments, so she had to withdraw.
Then, the Promoter's were going to pull the fight altogether, it would have been a shame and sad for Daniela Smith, who is a terrific kid, She's no world beater, but she tries her heart out, everytime she steps through the ropes, it would have been a real shame to cancel the fight.
Some how, they got onto Arlene Blencowe, who's record is not that great, but she had been concentrating on MMA, she is a dedicated, hard trying, lovely kid to chat with, who, Paid her own airfares from Aust to NZ, food accommodation and transport to and from the venue etc etc, just to take the fight.
So how can you slag her, for trying her best, being so far out of pocket etc, just to take the fight, because she saw it as an opportunity to win a title, yes the WB Federation is only an Organisation title, not a World title as Sevsek rightly stated, the WIBA is relatively creditable, and been around for many years, and has been held by some very good Female fighter's.
Now I agree, Arlene's record was average, she was just, 2 Fights, 1 win, 1 loss when she fought Daniela, who was clear favourite, at 12 wins and 3 losses. So no one can deny that Arlene's record, compared to Daniela's record, was not great, but still, she went over into Daniela's backyard, and beat her convincingly, so look at her achievement & effort, more than the fact it was just an Organisation title, not a real world title, but they both fought their hearts out, to win the contest.
In fact sadly, Daniela announced her retirement immediately after, it was a good fight, so let's just forget her record, she is in the sport doing her best.
You can bag her all you like, at least she's trying hard and doing something, and many of you in here, are just armchair know it all critics, who have never laced a glove on, and will never lace a glove on, yes you have a right to your opinion, but to slag a kid for trying her heart out, paying her own way, just to chase her dream, is a low act.
Not that you experts would know, but she is a terrific little sports person, is she gonna be a super World Champion, I doubt it, but it's girls/fighters like Arlene Blencowe, who are the fabric of this sport, and give their all, just to fight, as i said, she paid all her own costs to take this fight.
So now, i hope you may understand a little more about this young girl, who just loves the sport, you can check her out, she has her own website, I don't know the address, but it certainly tells a little about her.
