Why do you repeatedly go chasing after a fight with Michael Roberts? If both of you keep winning im sure the fight will happen at somepoint down the line. If Ronnie has been promised a british title eliminator soon then why do you see a fight with Michael Roberts as a good idea?

I was speaking to Mick Roberts snr yesterday at the Scottish Open championships and he told em that under no circumstances would Michael fight Ronnie whilst he brings nothing to the table.

I understand things from both sides, Ronnie wants to fight and will fight anyone. Him vs Mick Roberts jnr is a good match up and a good fight for Scottish boxing but on the other side I understand that Mick Roberts jnr has built up a good record and has put in years of hard work into boxing to get himself to where he is at.

Personally I would like to see the fight, but i would also like to see it for a title of some sort, British or Commonwealth? Then each fighter would have a good reason to take the fight and the purses for each would be better than for a silly masters or celtic title!

I'm sure it all started when they were both training at Billy Nelson's gym, don't know the whole story but when you have 2 good fighters at the same weight in a gym 1 will always claim he gets the better of the other in training and sparring. From that most times they will want to fight each other to prove it when they no longer train at the same gym. IMO

I understand the logic behind your thinking and agree with it to a certain extent but just think Ronnie's cheerleaders believe that people are running scared of them when they dont get the fights they want. I used to train in the same gym that Ronnie used in paisley and seen his commitment therefore wish only the best for his career but I also know Michael Roberts. He has been brought up with boxing his whole life and spent years sparring and learning from the best available, he like Ronnie would fight anyone put infront of him but the only difference is he hasnt got people on here shouting their mouths of for him!

I think in fairness Michael in being very carefully handled.. I see where David is coming from but if we are all serious at the rate Michael is going at he will be lucky to even get a British title fight. I can't see him beating anyone in that top 10. I actually believe Ryan Collins is a better talent. He is younger and seems willing to risk his 0 in order to improve.. We like the fight with Michael Roberts Jnr because we know 100% that Ronnie will beat him. Why not push for that on a TV show where Ronnie can showcase his skills. I believe whether he admits it or not Mick Roberts snr knows Ronnie beats Michael so goes down another path.. Fair play to him. Shouldn't let his son go into a fight he will lose.. I think Michael is technically a very very good boxer he just needs some more challenging fights I hope he gets them..

Guys think you totally confuse us with serious people, we genuinly dont care who Ronnie fights we just like banter, To whoever was at the Edinburgh show will tell you we arnt mad for boxing and usually amuse ourselves as shows that bad. Im totally new to boxing unlike David and Ronnie but a few observations iv made over the years about Scottish Boxing . 1. To succeed you need to take get a spoon and eat out of peoples arse's, 2. Being quite gets you nowhere, being loud gets you nowhere, 3. Mentality regarding promotors is its my football and ill decide when we play, 4. Billy Nelson is the biggest bitch iv met in my life and genuinly has a memory of a goldfish, hed stab you in the back with your own knife, I like Michael Roberts Jnr and if there is a boxer more dedicated in Scotland im yet to come across him, Including Ricky, he doesnt seem to have camps and just lives the life and his Dad is admirible and doing all he can for his son to succeed. Only one fault is unfortunetly he needs to step his opponents up but hey that may happen sometime soon and well see what hes made of.

Que Billy coming on and telling me Ricky is most dedicated boxer :)

Billy have you been over indulging in Sugary treats today? Im tripping? Where did I mention anything about Ricky or Ronnie's fitness or comparing them? Ricky is a world champion boxer therefor he is a better boxer than Ronnie, have I ever denied that? Didnt think so. Since we are stating the obvious put Ricky in a kickboxing Match with Ronnie Ricky would be sleeping and waking up drinking through a straw again. Phil Taylor would beat John Higgins at darts and John Higgins would beat Phil Taylor at snooker.

Read my comments properly Billy

David i can only go by what i seen in my gym, ronnie was paid to help Ricky and struggled quite badly with Rickys speed, skill and fitness, hence he only sparred two days and couldnt make the third day due to his car being broke :shame: , in truth it was due to the volume of shots he was taking.
No apart from Walsh Ronnie hasnt boxed better opponents!

If Ronnie is lined up for a british title eliminator then in my opinion he should get himself a ticking over keep busy fight and wait on his opportunity. It will be interesting to see if you are still as confident about fighting Roberts if or when there is something on the table and something to lose!

If Ronnie lands a british title fight (and wins) then i'd imagine by that stage that Michael Roberts would be a worthy and willing opponent.

Cardle who was a good amateur boxer. No shame in that and has moved down weight, the point was ronnie has faced harder boxers than Michael, podusovs also better than record suggests. Rogowski , Doug curran. Ronnie hasn't faced a great level but has served his apprentiship as they call it and needs to earn right for British title fight. Billy isn't Michael back training with you? Or sparring in gym? You belived ronnie would beat Michael before and maybe that's where rivalry stemmed from you playing in both camps? I wish Michael best in his next fight and hope he impresses on the big stage.

As you keep calling Billy two faced then I struggle to understand why you keep mentioning that he told you Ronnie would beat Michael. If he is so two faced then Im sure he would have also been telling Michael that he would beat Ronnie. You struggle to believe anything else he says but seem to cling onto this piece of a conversation as if it means anything. Maybe Billy was trying to install an extra bit of confidence in Ronnie by telling him that? Maybe he believed it based on what he seen one day in the gym or maybe he just talks sh1t like you lot keep suggesting but either way that comment means nothing. Billy defends his own so much that he probably thinks the speedball in his gym could win a world title! :bag:

Either way, Roberts v Clark is potentially a good fight. If both keep winning then Id like to see it on the same card as Quigg v frampton, Pacquiao v Mayweather, Haye v Fury. My big concern is that the card will fall through when you lot complain that Ronnie isnt the main event.

I don't care if billy belives ronnie can beat Michael you took that wrong? Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it. I was suggesting the reason there is a possible rivalry that's all. Ronnie I'm sure speaks to michaels dad and likes Michael but just wants a decent fight and not against Latvian road sweepers like billy says. I understand billy protects his fighters and that's fair enough but he doesn't need to have a big mouth all the time, which I'm sure even Ricky's manager told him to zip it at one stage?? We have a laugh and people don't realise it, go find a message where I have ever compared Ricky to ronnie? Said ronnie is above domestic level? Said ronnie has fight amazing fights? Never said that and proberly his biggest critic and said he can't expect his fans to pay for him to be fighting journeyman forever.

Jamie, Alex Morrison has never once intervered in my coaching of Ricky, something which clearly can't be said regarding other managers who tell there fighters who they will allow to train them.
Ronnie is a good fighter ive never said he wasnt, i think you should just let Roberts go down the route his manager chooses and respect that.

I wasnt meaning that Billy I was talking about the whole stuff with Harrison when you spoke about Harrison and Morrison said you had a big mouth. Michael will go down his own route and I hope that both of them can get in contention and have a fight for something meaningful. Sport is all about rivalries etc and its not a bad thing. Ronnie thinks he can beat Michael, Michael believes he can beat Ronnie, they are proud and thats way it is, only thing is when people say meet when something on line its just a risk as it may never happen but hey thats life. I dont know regarding managers telling fighters who to not train and I have an idea who you are talking about and I dont have much time for the man myself but hey what can we do? but the arguments between two of scotlands top promotors could be better if people would work together and get some top fights domestically that would drag fans into shows and not leave them short changed
