Time wasting, Geeze we have had some good ones.

Post by Grant »

Doodling at work and came up with a list of around 20 Aussie world class fighters (yes I’m a public servant )from memory and not stupid enough to rank them 1 to 20, I put them into classes based on who the fought in their respective careers (from memory). Given that now a days titles don’t mean as much as they used to. Would love to hear what others think.

Rose 1
Fammo 1
Fenech 1
Harding 1
Curruthers 1
Tzsu 1
Darchy 1
Katsidis 1
Tony Mundine 1
Hector Thompson 1
Paul ferarri 1

Sam Solomom 1 .5
Dan Geale 1.5

Danny Green 2
Anthony Mundine 2
Barry Michael 2
Lester 2
Dave Sands Career cut short 2
Les Darcy Career cut short 2

Some of the guys during the 30’s and 40’s like Terry Reilly, Ambrose Palmer, Jack Carroll etc. 1- 1.5 ?

Sorry for those I missed.

I am not sure that geale is correctly placed? He accomplished more than Katsidis and soliman in my opinion.

I'd have Katsidis at 1.5 along with Soliman along with Paul Ferrari, I'd have barry Micheals either up with them or in the top group and Daniel Geale in the top group, I recon, but an impressive list so far, none-the-less. A couple that aren't on there are Sakio Bika and Paul Briggs, and what do you think about Rick Thornberry?

Actually if I am being picky, and non biased then mundine(the younger) is probably a 1.5... When It is all said and done his body is a 1.5... What annoys people is that he talked himself up as the 1, and called everyone else 1.5.

If you took B.S out of the equation mundine has been solid fighter...and more accomplished than most will admit

Sorry, but Les Darcy in the same class as Anthony Mundine?

Even by 21 Darcy's accomplishments were far greater than Mundine could ever imagine (and we all know his imagination is a "1"). eg. In his last fight Les knocked out George Chip - in Chip's previous fight he had beaten Harry Greb.

Don't agree that Katsidis or Ferrari belong in the top group and Tony Mundine and Hector Thompson are borderline.

Dave Sands, Jack Carroll, Young Griffo, Vic Patrick and Peter Jackson should all be "1"'s.

I seem to remember Nat Fleisher from ring magazine rated Young Griffo very highly.
