Burns Vs Crawford

Post by Gazmac81 »

Not seen too much on this apart from on current scene from our American Friends and us scots embroiled in a Ronnie Clark / Billy Nelson pissing contest :D

anyway im really looking forward to this fight and Ricky is coming back to what would seem an Extremley good fighter going by the reports , i think were going to be in for a special night as We know Ricky will never give up and with the crowd behind him again he can push all the way , if Crawfords as good as hes being made out then were in for a hell off a fight i reckon.

I reckon people should need to show a utility bill to prove they arent from dundee to participate in this thread so that it sticks to the point!

Dont know much about Crawford but hoping hes a bit of a hype job and Burns is back to his best.

I had a quick look at Crawfords record on here and it looks like he has never even fought in a scheduled 12 rounder.I could be wrong though as I was using my phone and have a shite connection at work.

Hopefully burns will break him down and improve on his more recent performances.

Really hope Burns is at his best for this one. Don't know a lot about Crawford if I am completely honest, but a lot seems to be being made of him. Be nice to see a top performance from Ricky after the last few (not that you can do a lot about the injury in the last fight).

Seems a top lad so be nice to see him get a good solid win and the plaudits that presumably will go with that, and kick on from there.

What's a utility bill? I promise to keep it on topic ha.. This fight all depends on how good Crawford is.. If he is as good as the Americans think I would expect. Crawford to win by KO.. I don't believe he is which gives Ricky a chance. Will be down to getting the tactics right on the night..

Never trust the Americans. They have a history of hyping fighters up as the next superstar, only for them to fail at the top level, especially when they're sent over here. Crawford's good, but if Ricky gets the jab going, everything else will follow and he has nothing to counter off and he's away from home, he's never done 12 rounds or trained for 12 rounds, hostile atmosphere against the first genuine world class fighter he's faced, I don't think the rest would get above domestic level here, let's see what happens when he gets hit back, forced out of his comfort zone and has to fight at a fast pace for 12 rounds. 34 years ago an American Olympic Gold Medalist was being hyped up as the next superstar, for his first world title fight, at lightweight, he travelled to Glasgow, to fight Jim Watt at Ibrox Park, for 15 rounds he was outboxed and outfought. Howard Davis never won a world title.

i think alot of the hype comes from him beating Danny Garcia and Mike Garcia as an Amateur accroding to the reports

that said hes done nothing wrong in his pro career so far and deserves his chance , hes also travelling so fair play to him.

Tim Bradley came over and beat Junior Witter and now look at him

Hmmm. The knowledgeable American posters are some of the best around and the most balanced and unbiased anywhere. There is far, far more bias on the British forum. US posters in general just want to talk boxing and couldn't give a fig where someone comes from. The same can't always be said for this forum.

Anyway, Crawford is for real and folk will see this on Saturday night.

The same Americans that have hyped up fighter after fighter, only for them to fall short? There's no one on here that comes close, to Brut, bnov, cheppaaaaa, kronk and the other retards in the current scene.

I have dipped my toe in CS and there are some who are there for good talk and debate and seem fine; there are some who are plain nuts and have long held grudges against each other and it takes up most of the threads. I have seen Crawford and he is a smooth and correct boxer and he will take some beating but he is away from home and Burns will not go quietly; he has real courage and is better than he seems at first look.

I,m a massive fan of Ricky and would back him to beat Vazquez and Abril but i think Crawford,s gonna win this one, fairly convincinly as well,

Ricky likes fighters to be aggressive and come at him but he seems to struggle with slick, quick fighters and this one switches so i fear he,s gonna tie Burns in knots, although Vazquez and Abril are also quite simalar to Crawford in terms of being a boxer as opposed to a fighter,i,d fancy Burns to outgun them but Terence will be content to box to a gameplan for 12 rounds and even might start to pour the heat on in the later stages of the fight, but hopefully i,ll be eating humble pie

C,mon Rickster i believe in you  :TU:

He is better against aggressive fighters, but whatever happens Crawford is going to be made to work on Saturday, no doubt the decision in September will play on his mind, he may feel he needs to be more convincing to guarantee the win and in the heat of the fight and a highly charge atmosphere, it's not always easy to box to a gameplan and avoid being dragged into a tear up. Gonzalez tried and ultimately failed and I think Ricky is far better prepared for this fight, he knows exactly what to expect from Crawford and the sparring he's had has been top class. Plus, he's the underdog and when the odds are against him, he produces his best performances and he's certainly due one, if there's ever a man you shouldn't write off, it's Ricky Burns.

Seen a bit of crawford, not the most exciting fighter but I just cant see how burns beats him. Crawford by comfortable ud. Crawford is a much better fighter than beltran who busted up burns pretty bad only to get robbed on the score cards. Also no way would team burns have taken this fight if it wasn't mandatory, this is not a fight they want.

If burns fights like his last 2 fights he could be in more trouble vs crawford. If burns gets back to his better form he will win it.

I agree fully!! Very lucky against Gonzales he gassed.. Got the rub of the green against Beltran. In fairness unless you are exceptional you have to get a bit of luck to become a World Champion! Right fights at the right time.. I think this fight will show everyone just how good both fighters are..

I think Crawford could be the real deal, but this is a lose lose for Burns. If he wins they'll say he was a hype job and if Burns loses it will be 3 bad performances in a row.

Backing Crawford by SD, but hopefully Burns can KO him.

Waste of time looking into the Beltran fight, the fact he was still standing after 10 rounds with a broken jaw was incredible, let alone coming back to win the last 2 rounds and snatch a draw.

No luck at all about Gonzalez gassing, he did so trying to finish the fight off and found Burns still standing there throwing back and hurting him, that's why fighters spend weeks in the gym and out running, so they can cope with the demands of a 12 round fight, he won while far from his best, the mark of a true champion.
